Canterbury Race 3 – Imperial Force

Strong win by this Snitzel colt at his second outing, posting a strong R&S rating at 96, following on from his 87 debut effort. He worked up outside the leader here and took over early in the straight to put a good margin on his rivals, running a quicker overall time than the fillies on the same day, with the winner there also very impressive. Imperial Force started $1.80 on debut at Randwick Kensington and just found one better but he's definitely lived up to the market support here and looks one to go through the grades, possibly even up to Brisbane.

Caulfield Heath Race 8 – Artzino

Tricky day at Caulfield Heath with a lot of messy finishes and slow tempos. This race was no different but Artzino was the one least suited having missed the start by two lengths, ending up last on the rails. He ran the fastest last 1000m of the race but just had too much to do off that tempo, finishing fifth. He'd promised plenty as a younger horse and although doesn't appear to be getting anywhere near that form, he's on track to win next start out to 2000m.
