Sydney Specials: Hawkesbury Cup Day

Hawkesbury plays host to the stand-alone meeting this Saturday, which includes a strong ten-race card with big fields across the board.

Hoping we can get the money early in the Clarendon Stakes for two-year-olds, with the hard fit TRAFALGAR SQUARE.

The daughter of Churchill has improved at all three runs this preparation, after demolishing her rivals over 1250m at Canterbury on April 17.

She won with plenty up the sleeve last start and trainer David Payne is full of confidence the 1400m won't pose a problem.

Winning rider Chad Schofield keeps the ride and she looks great value at the current quote of $5.

The Group 3 Hawkesbury Gold Cup sees the Ciaron Maher stable well represented with three runners, including the two favourites in Detonator Jack and Nugget.

I want to be with NUGGET here after the seven-year-old had no luck at all when a close-up fourth in the Group 1 Doncaster Handicap on April 6. He's since been kept up to the mark with a trial placing over 1200m at Warwick Farm on April 26.

He should be able to get cover from the sticky gate and appreciate the solid tempo anticipated. The $5 on offer looks acceptable with the in form Tyler Schiller aboard.

If the anticipated rain arrives, I want to be with the underrated Razeta in the Group 3 Hawkesbury Crown.

She looks the value play at $18 and is undefeated in two starts on the heavy tracks.
