RACE 1 - Tricky. RHUMB LINE (4) is speedy and maps for the run of the race. Missed a whisker here on debut over this distance and that's the best figure presenting. Owns a dominant trial win and can return to racing even better. ASTIN LANE (6) trialled sharply before leading them up here first-up winning her Maiden over this trip. Has been kept on the fresh side and will lead or trail from the rails gate. Fitter and will be hard to peg back. SPICY DUCK (2) also runs along and resumes off a big Maiden win here. Is sure to have come on and is drawn inside. Orman is a key jockey booking suggesting the gelding is pleasing. ACCELAR (5) led and missed a nose at Eagle Farm on debut and then went back and wasn't disgraced at Listed level. Resumes owning a trial win and also has claims.

RACE 2 - TALTARNI FIELDS (10) is a leader who is third up off two heavily bet near misses at Doomben. Keeps the small claim and is well-placed in a provincial Maiden. Rates clear. PERIGEAN (8) switched from a Sydney stable and won a Doomben trial before just missing here first-up as a $3 equal favourite. He's in the premier Metro barn and is sure to keep improving. The speedy galloper has an awkward gate today but Maloney sticks and will manage COMMANDORO (4) resumes for a sharp yard with the blinkers first-time applied. He will be naturally improved and showed enough on debut to consider. DULVERTON CHARM (11) resumes and has switched to Peter Robl. Has had two solid trials for the stable and it wouldn't surprise if he went well.

RACE 3 - WINNING EDITION (10) needed it at Doomben on debut and then went back narrowly beaten. Resumes today owning a big trial win there and the 2kg claimer (Wheeler) sticks from that. Maps for a soft run and she can return to racing further improved. The one to beat. POWER FLASH (3) is in the top Metro barn and won a Doomben trial before a plain run here first-up. Had a slow recovery and fitter should be much more competitive. TORERA (9) trialled solidly at Doomben and followed with a decent effort at the Sunshine Coast on debut. She can build on that and maps for a soft run. CASEBOLT (6) switched from a Sydney yard and first-up was narrowly beaten at Grafton. In good hands and will keep improving. Has a sticky barrier but deserves consideration.

RACE 4 - The speedy FLAMING CONQUEST (1) resumes and the three duck eggs have all been in much stronger company. She's sharp fresh and performs this track and distance. Has the handy 3kg claim and will lead or trail from the inside barrier. Tough to roll. CAPITAL REIGN (3) resumed with a heavily bet Open win at Roma building on the head defeat here in a CL4. Has more weight but maps for the run of the race and has been kept on the fresh side. Fitter and is a chance to go back-to-back. CABRINELLA (8) was third-up and deserved the 65 win at the Sunshine Coast. Has to drop back 200m but she has a good record at this course/distance and she will present at peak fitness. PIANIST (11) is going well and fourth up deserves consideration. BECAUSE THE NIGHT (7) races well here and was quickly back on track beaten 1.2L at Toowoomba. He's been freshened for the shorter trip and draws to advantage with a 3kg claimer up. Goes in at a price.

RACE 5 - Competitive. Gollan-trained KINETIC (11) has been within range without winning. She drops back in grade and is drawn to better advantage. The extra metres shouldn't bother and Maloney is a key jockey switch. She looks well-placed to record an overdue win. JUPITUS (2) finished it off well beaten 1L in a Doomben 75 over a mile. That was his best effort since switching from Waller's Victorian barn. Duric takes over from Maloney and can get him into the finish given average luck from an awkward barrier. BASSAC LANE (4) improved again winning a 62 at the Sunshine Coast as expected. He races well here and the extra 300m should advantage. Sits handy and also has claims. HOUSTON ROCKET (7) improved again narrowly beaten at the Sunshine Coast over a mile. Finally draws an inside barrier and can't be ruled out.

RACE 6 - MANNERHEIM (6) is a Waller-trained improver who has been narrowly beaten both his starts this preparation at short quotes. Maloney stays aboard and the barrier isn't quite as challenging after scratchings. He has the blinkers applied again and presenting fitter will be hard to roll. BLUE RAY (2) hasn't had the best of it since the 1L defeat at Eagle Farm over a mile. Was swamped late on a heavy track last start and will appreciate a less demanding surface. Expect him to lead or box seat and get every chance to return to the winner's list. NEW LEVEL (3) was beaten 1L here second-up and is still to test his best Victorian form. Keeps Orman and tipping he'll manage the step up in distance. Go well. TOKYO BANDIT (5) peaks and has been looking for this distance. Has the 2kg claim and deserves consideration.

RACE 7 - Gollan-trained PIZARRO (2) resumes after 158 days and has switched from a sharp Sydney barn. He's been racing in stronger company and has placed 4/5 fresh. He won a recent Deagon trial and the top metro hoop sticks from that. Looks ready to go and will take plenty of beating. SPACE TRACKER (3) resumes and has been switched from Victoria by Annabel Neasham. He's also been going around in better races and the first-up record reads well. Trialled solidly behind the above with Maloney up and he stays with him. Maps for a soft run and is feared. JOVITA (8) resumes and is building a nice record. The speed-bred mare performs fresh and no surprise if she comes back further improved. She will trail the lead from a low barrier and give a sight. ORIENT'S SECRET (6) resumes off solid city efforts and won a recent Beaudesert trial by almost 4L. He also goes fresh and is also in the mix.

RACE 8 - TORONADO ROUGE (5) switched from a top Victorian barn and wasn't beaten far first-up on the Sunshine Coast heavy. Her form stacks right up for this and she's won second-up. She will race forward and Wheeler's 2kg claim is handy. Fitter and finds a winnable assignment. Waller-trained SKYWRITER (9) seeks the hat-trick building on the Doomben win at 65 level. She also has more to offer and the barrier is more manageable after scratchings. Keeps Maloney and she's sure to have plenty of admirers. INVAHIR (2) led here in a CL4 and went close to delivering the hat trick. Peaks and will lead or box seat from the rails gate. Keeps improving and will give a sight. DISNEY CASTLE (10) was switched north from Waller's Sydney barn and delivered the win here this grade/trip. It was a good effort and she can't be ruled out.
