RACE 1 - HOAX (2) won the Maiden easily on debut when expected to need it. It was a good effort and he is better suited in the smaller field. Fitter and can take the next step. FIRST LINE (7) was outgraded at Listed level and then didn't have the best of it back to Maidens. Peaks now and no surprise to see here right in the finish. LADY FERN (4) debuts from the rails gate and showed enough in the recent Longford trial to suggest she will go well. NATIVE CLAN (6) gets Newitt and quick improvement is on the cards.

RACE 2 - BLONDE STAR (7) didn't miss by far here on debut and then found one much too good at Launceston. Covered the others and finally draws a low gate. Has a 2kg claim for a promising WA apprentice and can go one better. ROLLING IN IT (6) runs along and has been around the mark. Hits this at peak and can make the finish. KAGISO (3) is in good hands and was only beaten 2.4L here last time from a wide gate. Has an inside barrier today and sharp improvement is likely. MISS PRIVATE (4) is second enough and is showing enough to consider. Newitt goes aboard and that's a lead.

RACE 3 - GLORY MISSION (5) debits owning a 7.8L trial win and looks the goods. He has an awkward barrier but he will be good enough to manage on what we've seen. GEE GEES MOONLITE (6) will be fitter and has threatened both starts this preparation. Has the race fitness and experience and should go close. SHE PLAYS GAMES (9) peaks and go on the near miss here two back. Maps for a soft run and gets another chance. HUBUBBAJAHN (10) led and showed plenty here on debut and then settled last at Launceston and couldn't make up the ground (vet cleared). Draws low today and Newitt goes on. Quick improvement is likely.

RACE 4 - HAPPY CLAN (2) was a comfortable CL1 winner and then missed a nose in a 64. Newitt goes aboard and the improver is a decent chance to bounce. DALTON DANCER (1) seeks the hat-trick and should see out the middle distance. Has a small claim and is on a 9-day return. AFRIDI (7) was beaten just 1.8L in a 76 over this distance and that more than stacks up. Not sure the rail suits but he has to be considered. NAMABAALE (3) finished just ahead of the above in the same contest and will be better for it.

RACE 5 - JEHBENTI (2) brought strong form from Victoria but wasn't fancied at his first run for the new barn and ran accordingly. He will be better for that and no surprise to see quick improvement. BATCHY BULLET (6) won the Maiden here as expected and it was deserved. She has more to give and fitter has to be considered. RUE DE PALAIS (1) was back on track leading and winning a CL1. Will race forward again and racing at peak is a chance.

RACE 6 - WADDY WADDY (6) came to this trip and won comfortably turning his form around. Has to manage a wide gate but the well-bred gelding looks capable of repeating the dose. MIKAZUKI (2) has switched from a Victorian barn on a 14-day return and was last seen beaten a whisker this distance at Stony Creek. He can keep improving and is feared. OPALSON (4) has been racing well at the mile. Gives every impression the middle distance will suit and Newitt is a key jockey switch. SHAKEEDA (12) went close this trip two back and that's the measure. Hard fit now and keep onside.

RACE 7 - LORD WHITEGATE (3) runs along and has been nudged out his last three. Uses the rail and has the handy 2kg claim. Will get every chance to go one better. LOUD MOUTH (5) deserved the Maiden win here and then disappointed following and prepared to forgive. Peaks now and will likely enjoy the step up to the mile. She will push forward and has more upside than many of these. I'M KEEFE (2) peaks and is busting to win. Races forward but has the outside gate and that's the dampener. SAXON MIST (12) also runs along and is in light with the 3kg claim. Can't be ruled out.

RACE 8 - A small field but a good contest. DANTES (4) threatened twice and then delivered a 60 win over this distance. Was heavily backed again and the on-pacer can go on with it now. ROMARY (2) hasn't been beaten his far two at Listed and Group level. She looks well-placed and should be right in the finish. KALIUWAA FALLS (1) has been briefly freshened and has switched from the Lindsay Smith yard. Delivered the hat trick in a 68 last time and is sure to race well again. RICH CLAN (5) had been knocking on the door before a plainer effort last time. Races forward and is also a chance.
