Quieter day of racing in store for Adelaide on Saturday with just the eight races set out.

We look to strike early in the card with a progressive four-year-old mare who finally gets out the right trip, before hoping to bring it home with one at big odds in the last.

In the second of the day, I'm confident the Andrew Gluyas-trained Arugamama can kick the day off for us on the right note (Race 2).

Although not having saluted since her maiden win back in late February of this year, this daughter of Churchill has shown plenty of promising signs, most notably when beaten just under a length (0.9L) in the G3 Auraria Stakes by Jennilala.

Resuming well short of a preferred trip at Morphettville (1200m), Arugamama has hit the line hard in each of her runs back as Gluyas has slowly stepped her out in trip.

After again finding the line nicely last time out in the Listed John Letts Cup, Arugamama looks ready to explode on the seven-day turnaround as she tackles the 1950m.

With the sharp drop in grade, I expect her to have a fair bit on these.

As for the best value play of the day, we head to the last where I'm keen on the chances of Angelic Appeal (Race 8).

This three-year-old Sir Prancealot filly showed great fight to get the verdict when resuming here two back and then followed it up with an eye-catching minor placing at Gawler, after never looking likely at the turn.

Admittedly drawn sticky in 10, I expect Lachlan Neindorf to be conservative from the barrier and save his mount for the final shot at them and hopefully boot one home for us with a bit of juice.
