Looks a fascinating edition of the All Aged this Saturday. Just the trio of three-year-olds but a fair bit of depth with quite a few chances.

The T J Smith is often the key lead up but I'm not sure what to do with this year's edition. It was a messy race where Chain Of Lightning was given a perfect ride by Damian Lane where just 2.6 lengths covered the first ten.

Espiona was the unlucky one there and boasts an excellent record at 1400m, but $4 favourite looks well and truly short enough. It's easy to look unlucky and flashy in races like that- she did the same thing in the Lightning first up.

There was so little between the likes of Espiona, Chain Of Lightning, Magic Time and Sunshine In Paris, all of whom have no issue at 1400m.

If I had to pick one of those, at the prices, it'd be Magic Time, who just looks like she might have a bit more improvement to come. Only second up there and four weeks between runs, she looks perfectly primed for 1400m now.

Her past two 1400m runs are very good. She ran third, beaten a neck, at $2.80 in The Invitation behind Espiona when three wide no cover the trip before a big win in the Rupert Clarke, again when wide.

She looks to get a good run here and slightly firmer conditions certainly won't hurt her chances either.

Private Eye is the best horse in the race but it's hard to know where he's at. Interesting that J-Mac takes the ride and if he can land him midfield with cover, he's very dangerous.

The other big chance is Southport Tycoon who missed the Doncaster and comes here very fresh with two trials since his Australian Guineas win. He ran a better rating than Celestial Legend did in the Randwick Guineas with Veight coming out to win the George Ryder.

That sort of number puts him very close to top pick in this and he should get a good run here, it's just whether he runs up to it.

Tough race, but I'd be leaning to Magic Time and Private Eye from Southport Tycoon.
