Tormey and Manning join fellow Aussie locals Brittany Graham and Amanda Turnbull as part of the traveling party heading across the ditch.

The 33-year-old Tormey got the call-up after Kate Gath declined the offer in order to partner Catch A Wave in Western Australia this Friday.

The trip isn't the first foray to New Zealand for Tormey.

"I have driven over there (New Zealand) before, and it's a whole lot different to Australia. I will just have to have a look at the race and talk to some of the locals," Tormey said. "They tell you what will go on."

The opportunity to represent Australia on the big stage is not lost on the Junortoun reinswoman.

"It's a huge honour, especially going with Kez (Kerryn Manning). Any time you get to represent your state or your country it's a huge honour," she said.

Tormey will fly out of Melbourne on Thursday night and drive Caulfield in the race for David Butcher. Manning will partner Proviseur for trainer Craig Sharpe.

The opportunity to learn and continue to be a role model for the next generation of drivers coming through does not sit comfortably with Tormey.

"It's funny when people say that because I don't see that (being a role model)," she said.

"I have worked hard to be recognised and it is an honour, but it's not something I aim to do. And when this thing comes along, it's something I appreciate. It's a huge honour."

The special race is named after Dorothy Cutts, who was the first woman to be granted a professional driver's licence to compete against the males in New Zealand.

Tormey and Manning will feature alongside a number of local female drivers including Crystal Hackett and Nicky Chilcott.
