Wednesday best bets from Mick Gannon & David Taggart (01/10)

The Wednesday best.

Mick Gannon & David Taggart have your Wednesday sorted on Trackside.

The lads have taken a close look at Sandown & Rosehill in a bid to find the family some winners.

See their best bets below:👇

David Taggart

SANDOWN

Race 2 | 5. Jaguar Paw

Should have finished closer on his debut after getting held up when coming from near last, only to savage the line last 100m. Steps up to a more suitable trip, has experience now and draws to get the gun run from pole.

ROSEHILL

Race 1 | 3. Condone

Condone was huge on debut riding a hot speed only to knock up late, getting beat in the shadows. Barrier isn’t a concern after all the scratching’s and he will go forward again and control the race to his liking, especially as he steps up to 1400m.

Race 3 | 1. Mergeila

Defied the drift first-up for an easy win on the heavy. Remains in the same grade with the same weight after the claim. Will go forward and is going to be hard to beat as most others will want more ground.

SANDOWN

Race 2 | 7. Sulek

Produced a good figure on debut, running home well over 1200m at Mornington. The step up to 1400m looks suitable and I expect Sulek to improve at this set-up. Look for Egan to settle midfield with cover before letting him rip in the home straight.

Race 4 | 7. Acta Non Verba

Relished the rise in trip jumping from 1200m to a mile last start and now gets the chance to stamp himself as a miler third-up at the same trip. The 2kg claim for Bates is a plus and allows him to drop 6kg for this contest. Acta Non Verba gets map favours and should lead at an even to slow tempo and can steal the race.

Race 5 | 10. Seethru

Another likely leader who is set for a soft time in transit. He's racing in career best form, and a repeat of his most recent effort has him in the finish. Favourite Zambardo deserves that tag, but in a slow run race will need some luck on turning for home and I'm willing to risk at the current quote. Seethru makes his own luck, is in good form and will give us a run for our money.

ROSEHILL

Race 2 | 11. Ripley

Ripley showed talent in his first prep, placing in both starts, with the combined form producing nine subsequent winners – a profile that reads strongly.

He resumes off two solid trials and looks well set up to fire fresh. From a favourable map with the rail out 7m on a dry track, he should roll forward and prove tough to get past.

Race 3 | 1. Mergeila

Mergeila gets in well with Will Stanley’s 3kg claim, making her attractively weighted. If she can reproduce her first-up performance, she’ll be hard to beat.

By Justify, she should relish the firmer ground and maps to lead on a day where being on-speed is an advantage. Provided Stanley can find the front without burning too much petrol, she looks the one they’ll have to run down.
