It’s the last meeting at the track before the highly anticipated Newmarket and 3YO Cup program.

The rail is +7m, a shift from the +4m used for the previous meeting on 31 October. The weather forecast points towards a soft-rated surface.

Race 5 – 1. Earendel

The progressive Earendel resumes with ambitions of winning a Devonport Cup in early 2026. A winner of four of his six starts, trainer Barry Campbell will be keen to get his rating (71) up quickly to ensure the 5yo gains a start in better races. He’s had two trials leading into his 1400m resumption, the most recent at this track, beating some very handy gallopers. Versatile horse, and one I have a lot of time for.

Race 8 – 1. Flying Billie

Tricky little four-horse field finishes the night, a race where they could all win without surprise. Despite the small field, I see value in Flying Billie, whom I’ve marked as a favourite, and he’s the opposite in early markets. He went to a new level last campaign, winning three on the bounce in Hobart. He has a Launceston win to his credit, and I like the race shape for him here, which should see him get the drop on Popilita and Thoros of Myr, who are two noted leaders.

Race 1 – 6. Nikolsky

Nikolsky is a former South Australian who resumes for Mark Ganderton with three recent trials under his belt. He’s been slow out in all of them, which is a likely a negative given the rail is +7m, but he’s hit the line with a lot more to offer. I suspect the 5yo mare is wound up for her Tasmanian debut, and she’s a big price to find out.
