CAULFIELD
Race 4 | 5. Oh Too Good
Million excuses last start at Moonee Valley and today maps for a much easier run. Good track is delish as is the step back up to the mile. Two back only got beat by Lazzura when race tempo didn’t help her. This is her class and I think she is the best of the bunch!
Race 7 | 3. Evaporate
Was great last start when having to work early and should get cushy run behind speed. Handles Caulfield well and the 1600m is wheelhouse. This has been a priority for him and I think it’s time he went bang this prep!!
Race 8 | 4. Nepotism & 14. Planet Red (both each-way)
It’s a really open Guineas and I can make a case for these guys at a price up to 1600m. Nepotism has been a little flat this prep but he is a miler and there will be a lot more speed than last start in the Golden Rose. He has the winkers off and with the speed and the way he will relax I think will be rattling home. I backed Planet Red in the prelude and he was meh but small field and slow pace didn’t help him at all! He needs 1600m and is drawn to have a perfect run in transit. He needs to step up into this class and I think he will improve and $20 is worth a little each way play!
Race 9 | 9. Niance
Loves Caulfield more than Taggs and was really good in the Moir when having to swing wide after going back from wide gate. She is drawn perfectly and with even luck won’t need to go around a pony. 1100m is delightful and in an open race I’m with the girl who ticks every single box!!!
ROSEHILL
Race 3 | 6. Vega Magnifico
Comes out of decent Melb races and chased home Gilded Water last start. That win a couple back at Flemington is strong enough for this and carrying low weight after the claim! He can either lead or sit and stalk the speed (Tastula/ Pocketing) if they can quicker than I expect! The danger is God’s window and he will need speed on but either way Vega will be in front of him and that’s why I am on him here!
Race 5 | 2. Farnicle
Was ok in what I believe is a good form race (we'll find out in R4). Hit the line really, really well and feels way short of his best distance. 1400m feels perfect today and from that gate, the run of the race will be his! I expect improvement both in second up and longer journey and $2.50 is as sort as you want him, he is an a bet!! I have also backed him in the Coolmore at $51 that feels that it might end up not being his go but that is the opinion I have of him!!
Race 6 | 2. Flying Orchid
On the quick back up and the way he ground away late last week makes me think the seven days into the 1800m is perfect! This race isn’t dripping in cream and he can stalk Champagne Hero from that gate and have last crack!! I think he is headed to SC and even though I doubt he can win a G1, he can win a race of this class easily!
Race 7 | 15. Bauhinia (each-way)
Draws a nice gate and might be closer than normal in the run. Good track no issue and she rarely runs a bad race. Back to 1200m won’t hurt from that gate and fast track won’t stop her! She does go up a little in grade but deserves a chance and is over the odds at $15. Great each way play!
Race 8 | 2. Lindermann (win) & 1. Light Infantry Man (second)
The gate is a little bit tricky but Lindermann has the early gate speed. I think you’ll be able to roll across and control the race either lead or OSL Elamaz. He beat Sir Delius and almost beat Fangirl and those horses would easily win this. He gets the good track and runs well deeper in prep normally (4th up today). I think Light Infantry can run well and third up to 1900m today is a nice set up. He won the Australian Cup similar prep and I think the set up means he can run well and into second. I’ve taken the exacta!

CAULFIELD
Race 3 | 5. Whisky On The Hill
Stepped up to his pet trip last start and should have won by further than what he did. Draws to get the run of the race here and stalk the fav Plymouth who should lead.
ROSEHILL
Race 2 | 5. Modella
Finally draws a gate and she should be winning. Her first up run was full of merit when back and wide then she never disgraced herself when thrown into the deep end last start. Will race much closer to the pace and should be too good for them.
Race 5 | 2. Farnicle
Caught the eye first up when he ran through the line very well giving every indication he wants this trip. Draws perfect for Clark to give him the gun run and he just looks better than the rest.
Race 7 | 6. Gangsta Granny
Has been knocking on the door and this is the easiest race she’s contested in this prep. Her first up run was full of merit pushing the quality mare in Autumn Glow and her second up run was ok. Draws good conditions suit and she should be winning.
Race 9 | 3. Waterford (value)
Reversed his form to win very easily and there is no reason he can’t go on with it here. Draws soft and he will travel just off the pace and get last crack at them. He’s worth an each-way ticket as he should get all the favours throughout.
Race 10 | 1. Amazing Eagle
Resumes and is ready to go. Flies fresh, draws soft and this is much easier than what he contested last prep.
