Racing & Sports expert selections.
RACE 1 - DJANGO EXPRESS (1) has returned in top form this campaign. Will appreciate the longer trip on the short turnaround and is well placed to play another major role. AUGUSTA ROCK (2) dug deep to fend of Django Express last start at Quorn. Gets some slight weight relief with the apprentice going on and is sure to measure up again. HARBOURING (4) didn't give a yelp last start at Murray Bridge but was a handy winner there the start prior. Will find this a fair bit easier and is already a five-time winner at this track. Bold showing anticipated. REGAL ROCKET (5) continues to knock on the door and also holds claims.
RACE 2 - ZAIN PRINCE (9) finds the maiden win elusive but it hasn't been without trying, beaten by the barest of margins two and three runs back. Willing to put a pen through last run. Can bounce back sharply and shed his tag. TUFF OPERATOR (8) never looked likely fresh at Gawler but did manage to make some late inroads. He's yet to miss the frame at this venue and is expected to prove sharply second-up. OUR SWOOSH (5) hasn't threatened the winner in his last three here but has finished in the minors. In the mix. MR JONES (4) holds claims on best figures. Inside stall also assists.
RACE 3 - TENTERK (5) has been ready to win for a long time, again beaten less than a length last start. Only needs to hold his form to take some stitching. GREY FOLLY (6) has hit the line nicely in her last two. Peaking now and gets in low at the weights again. Main danger. CUBAN LORD (1) wasn't far away two back at Bordertown but failed to follow it up last start. Easier this time and is among the main chances. BLACK MARMALADE (2) was an eye-catcher first-up at at Murray Bridge but has struggled since. Keep safe.
RACE 4 - MAHI MAHI (9) has struggled to threaten of late but had produced some good performances prior. Blinkers going on first time could prove the trick. Watch for sharp improvement. HECS DEBT (2) is a Rich Enuff gelding stepping out on debut for David Halliday. Worked nicely into the frame in recent Morphettville trial. Doesn't find a tough maiden and can make an immediate impact. GEEIJO (1) warmed to his task nicely over the concluding stages at Gawler two back in what has proven a good form race. Not as effective last start but is worth another chance. RUSCHEYNE (4) is another that holds appeal on best efforts.
RACE 5 - UNTOUCHABLE ED (1) narrowly missed two back at Gawler when driving hard into second. Was outclassed last time in town. Much better placed back in this grade and can give this a big shake. TIME WARRIOR (4) hasn't won for a long time but is knocking on the door. Profiles nicely over this track and trip. Gets his chance to break a long run of outs. THE CASSINI (3) has been in the market at his last couple of runs but failed to threaten.. Look for a better run this time out. WE'VE GOTTA DEEL (2) hasn't caused a scare in his two runs back but will find this easier back in grade. Inside pillar also assists.
RACE 6 - SHIKANIC (3) was ticking up superbly before clearly going a miss last start at Gawler. Yet to miss the placings in over this track and trip strikes a more suitable contest and can get the job done. LANCELOTTO (2) has progressed nicely in his last couple of runs. Must raise the bar but another win is not out of the question. BROADWAY LANE (5) doesn't win out of turn but had been showing enough prior to his poor last start efforts. Holds appeal on the quick turnaround. CRY CRY BABY (9) turned in a much better effort last time out to score at Quorn. Well placed to feature if she can hold her form.
RACE 7 - SETOSA (8) is yet to give a shout this campaign but has struck three hot races. Has switched yards 29-days between runs and strikes a much more suitable assignment. The 1.5kg claimer jumps on to assist at the weights. Leading player. EAST INDIAMAN (1) returns. Yet to land a winning blow fresh but is a cut above these on best form, hence the big weight. 4kg claimer helps. IMPORTANT PRODUCT (2) made light work of his rivals here last start in this grade. Comes in on the fresh side with 35 days between runs and shoulders a terrific record over this journey. One of the key chances. Fellow last-start winner BONJOUR DE GAULLE (7) also holds claims.
