RACE 1 - COSTNER (2) resumes gelded for the Gollan yard. Has switched from a sharp Sydney barn and his NSW provincial form is strong. Owns a Doomben trial win and Orman stays aboard. Looks ready to go and maps for a soft run. Stablemate MEHRETU (6) debuts and has looked the part at the trials. Orman rode her the most recent but she won't be disadvantaged with Craig Williams booked. A bold run is on the cards. PERIGEAN (1) presents for the same yard with Maloney aboard. Needs to find a touch more but there's improvement to come. VESPER LYND (7) resumes and she showed enough on debut to suggest he can get some of the money. Brings a trial win and draws the rail.

RACE 2 - Tricky. CLICK CLICK BOOM (1) debuted satisfactorily in a $500,000 Open 2 at the Gold Coast and was immediately spelled. He resumes owning a Doomben trial win with Stanley sticking aboard. They must have an opinion and the colt will be naturally improved. FIREFORCE (3) debuts and placed behind the above in the Doomben trial. Damien Thornton stays aboard and the rails gate should advantage the newcomer. He deserves plenty of respect with the blinkers applied. CUTTING EDGE (2) resumed at Toowoomba bet $4 and found one muck to good. Maloney's booking suggests he's pleasing and quick improvement is anticipated. MISTER TUDOR (5) debuts from an inside gate and has trialled well at Doomben. He will get every chance to show his wares.

RACE 3 - Competitive. DOUBLE GLAZED (3) has switched from a Victorian yard on a 23-day return. He was last seen heavily backed at Mornington and three back led at Cranbourne beaten 3L first-up. He must be pleasing the new stable and his figures are good enough for this contest. MIDORI MOVER (9) debuted with a close-up effort at Eagle Farm and then was better again beaten a half-length here over this distance. Resumes with a sharp Doomben trial under the saddle and maps for a soft run. She will be naturally improved and Jim Byrne knows her well. BETTER BE SLICK (1) has placed 4/4 at this track and 2/2 the distance. Has been shy of his peaks this preparation but he will be fitter again and it will be no surprise if he shows a lot more. CRYPTIC SOUND (8) was close up at Doomben and Ipswich before tackling 60 grade at Warwick and placing. Benefits from Graham's claim and with average luck she can get some of the money.

RACE 4 - MAJESTIC BOOM (3) spiked his figures winning the 68 at Eagle Farm. Drops back 300m but he's been freshened and is left the one to beat. DEVASTATING (1) peaks for the premier yard and is close to a win. Finds a bit easier and is still shy of his best. Maloney is a key jockey switch. Go close. LIBERTY STEPS (7) comes out of the same 78 at Eagle Farm and finished ahead of the above. He always puts in and is also a chance. STAR GAMBLE (2) resumes and has trialled well at Doomben. He hasn't won for a while but is proven fresh and good enough at best.

RACE 5 - ALMAIRAC (15) is a Victorian-trained galloper seeking the hat-trick off heavily-backed wins as Pakenham and Yarra Valley. He's been freshened and kept up to the mark with a solid trial at Beaudesert. Maps well and tumbles in weight at this level. Craig Williams is a key jockey booking and he can keep the ball rolling. STARZAM (6) has been within range in town this grade all three runs this preparation and will present at peak fitness. Will give away a start but this is a winnable assignment with average luck. DISCERNING (16) is a former Victorian who needed the first-up outing for the new barn. His metro form stacks up and she's proven second-up. Sits down in the weights and is a chance. GOLDEEL (4) was outgraded first-up at Listed level. She's also Is proven second up and has the early speed to clear the awkward barrier. In the mix. THOUGHT OF THAT (3) is a former Victorian who'd be competitive at best. Goes into the exotics at a big price.

RACE 6 - Gollan-trained PIZARRO (6) switched from a Sydney barn and won the CL3 here as expected over this trip. He will present fitter and has plenty up his sleeve. A gun hoop stays aboard and he may position more forward today from an inside gate. He can go back-to-back. KANAZAWA (5) raced well at Eagle Farm and Doomben and held the form placing in The Fitzroy Open at Rockhampton. Has a handy 3kg claim today and the rails barrier advantages. Has been kept on the fresh side and she'll be right in it. COTTEE (7) resumes owning back-to-back wins at Eagle Farm. Peaked her latest and that reads well. Brings a solid trial and the improving galloper has to be considered. The capable APRIL IN AUGUSTA (9) resumes and the recent Doomben trial was sharp. Maps for the run of the race and may present more forward this time around.

RACE 7 - Tough. BETTERLETMEDANCE (8) peaks for the Vandyke yard and is knocking on the door. Has an awkward gate but Orman goes on today and that helps. At her best this trip and with the first-time blinkers applied is a solid each-way chance. HEYOKA (14) resumes and showed plenty in her brief initial preparation. Will be naturally improved and can step up again. TALTARNI FIELDS (3) was nudged out twice at Doomben before delivering an easy Maiden win here. Was heavily bet in all and he looks capable of taking the next step. Craig Williams takes over from Orman on WITHIN REASON (7) who placed here first-up. She has more to give and maps for a soft run. In the premier barn and hard to risk. Ditto stablemate BRAVE AGENDA (13) who resumes and has switched from a NSW barn. Goes fresh and owns a Deagon trial win. She rates well and is likely to ride the speed.

RACE 8 - A terrific race. HIYAAM PROUD (2) won Geelong Maiden as expected on debut and then he was switched north and was too good for the 70 graders at Eagle Farm heavily backed. Fitter again and carries 2kg less. Moloney rides today and stepping up to the middle distance shouldn't be an issue. TOMODACHI (6) is a Kiwi who has won her last three in NZ backed off the map. Rates well and the longer journey should be right up her alley. Has an outside barrier and will need a good ride. Waller-trained MISTERKIPCHOGE (7) is third-up and has been racing in Listed and Group company. His figures stack up and Craig Williams takes over from Maloney. Expect him to relish the extra metres. Group 3 winner ENCODER (1) finds easier and will be a lot sharper third-up and out to this distance. RING ME UP (13) was a touch unlucky at Eagle Farm second-up and should relish the middle distance. In the mix.

RACE 9 - SHEZADANDI (5) had been knocking on the door in town before delivering the win here this grade/trip at a short quote. Gets more weight but looks capable of repeating the dose. LATELY (2) won the 68 at Eagle Farm and then didn't have the best of it there in a 90. Has a senior hoop aboard today and he's won 3/5 this distance. Peaks and should manage the extra weight. ALDEENAARY (11) has a cruel gate but a top Melbourne hoop is engaged and can manage. Assess him on the narrow loss at Eagle Farm two-back and the Waller-trained galloper will come hard over the longer trip. CONTRITION (14) was outgraded last time and comes back in distance. Just missed here prior over this distance and is much better placed in this contest. Maps for a soft run and Bayliss stays aboard. PORT MOURANT (10) has been around the mark without winning. Comes back a level and should be around the mark.
