Australian thoroughbred TAB meetings are today held at Canterbury, Ipswich, Murray Bridge, Ascot and Warrnambool.

CANTERBURY: RACE 8 @ 4:25 PM

YET HE MOVES (5) did his best work late to get up for second when resuming from a four-month spell over the mile at Gosford last start. Ideally placed out to this distance at the second run of the campaign. McDonald gets the run of the race from gate two, so his credentials are hard to fault. Stablemate SPEYCASTER (2) could be the danger with a couple of runs now under the belt this prep. Snagged back from a wide draw before making some ground last time over this course and distance. Draws a lot better today so he gets his chance. SMART LEGEND (4) is racing well without winning. Just failed in a thriller here at this distance a fortnight ago. On-pacer who will be prominent for a long way. ALLHALLOWTIDE (6) disappointed last start at Newcastle when fresh from a 39-day let-up. Sure to improve following that outing. VAIN INVADER (8) is good enough if at his best and he does race well at Canterbury.
SELECTIONS: Keen on Yet He Moves.

IPSWICH: RACE 2 @ 1:03 PM

TALTARNI FIELDS (10) is a leader who is third up off two heavily bet near misses at Doomben. Keeps the small claim and is well-placed in a provincial Maiden. Rates clear. PERIGEAN (8) switched from a Sydney stable and won a Doomben trial before just missing here first-up as a $3 equal favourite. He's in the premier Metro barn and is sure to keep improving. The speedy galloper has an awkward gate today but Maloney sticks and will manage COMMANDORO (4) resumes for a sharp yard with the blinkers first-time applied. He will be naturally improved and showed enough on debut to consider. DULVERTON CHARM (11) resumes and has switched to Peter Robl. Has had two solid trials for the stable and it wouldn't surprise if he went well.
SELECTIONS: Backing Taltarni Fields.

MURRAY BRIDGE: RACE 3 @ 1:45 PM

I TELL YA WHAT (7) hit the line nicely in his first two runs of the prep and then was no match for a tearaway winner last start at Balaklava but still did a sound job to finish second. Drawn tricky but Pannell sticking is a positive. Bold showing anticipated. DOUBLE YOU OWE (3) has shown some promising signs in his debut prep and gets a positive jockey switch to Jason Holder. Capable of putting it all together this time. TRUMPTY DUMPTY (10) failed to live up to market expectation on debut when beaten a long way. Improvement anticipated and Toeroek pilots again. Worth following up. WE'VE GOTTA DEEL (4) has turned things around in his last two when finishing close to the winner. Ticking along nicely and only has to hold his form to be featuring.
SELECTIONS: I Tell Ya What to win.

ASCOT: RACE 1 @ 3:14 PM

RED TORI (3) only narrowly missed at Pinjarra last start and should be fitter for that effort. Now out to this trip where she was very effective in her first campaign. Wide draw is a little niggle, but she has plenty of quality and is expected to get back to her best third-up. LINDEN'S GOLD (1) was just fair first-up over 1200m here but that was Saturday grade. Back to an easier race this time and the claim of Derrick comes in handy. Should get every chance from the inside draw. WATCH ME ROCK (5) returned in good order despite going under as favourite first-up and looks ready to go to another level now. Big tick with Pike remaining in the saddle and while he can get back in his races, he can be storming home late in the piece. FIVE DOWN (2) returned in good order and can build on that effort today. 1400m was his best trip last campaign. DIAMOND LIGHT (7) won well when leading throughout last start and warrants respect.
SELECTIONS: Siding with Red Tori in the opener.

WARRNAMBOOL: RACE 8 @ 3:20 PM

NICOLINI VITO (8) looks a strong each-way hope. He ran first-up in the Hareeba Stakes at Mornington and was only beaten a nose in a busy finish. He's a consistent type who rates highly here getting in on the minimum weight. SHOWMANSHIP (2) placed in this race in 2022. He's had plenty of issues with just 12 starts as an 8yo but is very talented on his day. Suited on soft ground. Must include. MIDTOWN BOSS (13) is a progressive type who continued his excellent form with a win at Flemington last time out. Can measure up. TUVALU (1) is the obvious class. 1200m and 61.5kg are the knocks but he must have a strong chance. FRANKIE PINOT (5) comes back from a mile but has run very well in this race before and loves wet ground. Will be charging late.
SELECTIONS: Backing Nicolini Vito.
