Australian thoroughbred TAB meetings are today held at Taree, Geelong and Rockhampton.

TAREE: RACE 6 @ 4:15 PM

Group 3 placegetter IMATRUESTAR (1) is a consistent gelding who surprised at ($101) when ran on late to finish third over 1400m in the G3 Newcastle Stakes behind Rustic Steel on March 8. Massive class drop today and has a good record on his home track. The one to beat with the claim. BETTER EXPLAIN (8) total mystery last start when drifted back and failed to give a yelp when 12th over 1400m at Rosehill in BM72 grade on February 28. Run prior over this trip at Newcastle rated well after finishing a narrow third. Stable have tinkered with the gear and improvement anticipated. KAPSALI (2) relished the heavy (8) going when returned for a dominant 4 len win victory over 1500m at Coffs Harbour last time out. Goes just as well second-up and looks set for a good prep. HUNTER BRED (6) consistent gelding who deserves his chance here after resuming with an encouraging second over 1400m at Newcastle in easier company on March 8. Drop in weight suits and the concussion plates (front) come off.
SELECTIONS: Imatruestar to win.

GEELONG: RACE 4 @ 3:00 PM

CAT NOIR (10) followed up a solid run for second in her penultimate run with a tough front-running performance for third in a stronger field at Sandown-Hillside nearly 3 weeks ago. She is at her peak fitness and with an extra furlong on offer, she could take them all the way this time. On top. THE JESTER'S SON (8) has finished third in all of his 4 starts to date, including a brace to open this prep in stronger lineups. He is probably looking for more ground but will find this company a lot easier and with the long home straight here, he will have plenty of time to wind up. Hard to beat. HEART OF ZORRO (6) showed quick improvement from a fair debut effort when finishing third at Ballarat just over a fortnight ago. He ran on with purpose that day and the extra 100 metres will be further in his favour. Include in all combinations. AFRICAN PIONEER (3) was slow into stride but still managed to place when third over 1300m at Ararat first up. Should go well in this line-up. SELECTIONS: Cat Noir to win.

ROCKHAMPTON: RACE 3 @ 2:55 PM

ROY'S ROAD (6) spiked her figures delivering the deserved 55 win at Townsville 7 days ago. That stacks up and she has 3kg weight relief at this level. Flies at her home track and can go on with it. DEVIL KICK (2) won here three back and again the latest when she spaced the 60 graders over this distance. Keeps the handy 2kg claim and is capable of winning again. POET'S DAY (5) is a leader racing at peak form. Likes wet tracks and may get conditions to suit. SRINI (3) was beaten 2L here last time at this level seeking the hat-trick as favourite. The race wasn't run to suit and he's worth another chance.
SELECTIONS: Backing Roy's Road.
