The Empire Rose could be the best race of Melbourne Cup week.
Autumn Glow has announced herself as a potential future legend, even being compared to the one and only Winx.
The four-year-old mare competed in her debut Group 1 on Saturday, and she made it look easy.
The Chris Waller trained bay dominated in the $1.5 million Epsom (1600m), winning the race by 1.44 lengths.
The young star is undefeated with seven wins from seven starts and doesn’t look like slowing down anytime soon.
The voice of Victorian thoroughbred racing Matt Hill joined SEN’s Whateley to break down the incredible Autumn Glow’s run in the Epsom and her future.
“They’re calling her ‘Mini Winx’,” Hill said.
“She’s seven from seven, she’s unbelievable, she just keeps answering the question.
“She was drawn a wide gate in the Epsom and was probably helped by the fact the field was smaller than it usually is.
“But she absolutely destroyed them.”
The renowned broadcaster revealed that ‘Mini Winx’ could be heading to the Group 1 Empire Rose at Flemington (1600m), alongside other four-year-old stars Treasurethe Moment and Aeliana.
If all three of these guns head to the million-dollar race, then Hill believes it could be the best race of Melbourne Cup Week.
“What’s mouth-watering is they’re talking that she could possibly head to the Empire Rose which is on Derby Day,” Hill revealed.
“We could have one of the all-time Empire Rose Stakes with Treasurethe Moment possibly going there, Autumn Glow, and then possibly Aeliana who was ok in the Turnbull but didn’t quite measure up.
“I never thought the Empire Rose might be the race of Melbourne Cup week.
"We don’t say that too often but that could be the case this year.”
The weight-for-age Empire Rose is exclusive to fillies and mares and will be run on November 1.
