He is well over the odds.
Racing analyst Adam Blencowe has identified one horse who he believes is well over the odds for this year’s Caulfield Guineas (1600m).
The Group 1 for the three-year-olds takes place at Caulfield on October 11 with Autumn Boy currently the $3.80 favourite with Sportsbet.
The likes of Wodeton ($6), Vinrock ($8), West Of Swindon ($8) and Navy Pilot ($9) are all in single figures but there is another galloper at massive odds - Rivellino - who has caught Blencowe’s eye.
Rivelino, trained by Kris Lees, ran sixth in Saturday’s Golden Rose at Rosehill but could improve in the Guineas at around $41 if connections opt to head that way.
“Is Rivellino going to the Guineas? Because he should,” Blencowe said on SENTrack & RSN’s Giddy Up.
“I think Rivellino is probably one that will get spat out and forgotten. Maybe he’s big odds, I’m not sure what price he is in early markets. I do know early markets these days are mighty hard to beat.
“If they were going to bet me a stupid price for Rivellino in a race where I think things are very even at the moment, I think maybe he’s one I can consider there.
“If you look at him and Autumn Boy and what they did on the weekend in a tricky spot clearly for both of them, I think you could make a case that Rivellino was a bit better.
“You obviously learn something from the market and the market will tell you that Autumn Boy is a bit better, or even a lot better, but I’m not so sure just yet.”
Rivellino last saluted in the Group 2 Skyline (1200m) at Randwick in early March this year.
The Too Darn Hot colt won his first three career starts before running fourth behind Marhoona in the 2025 Golden Slipper.
