Lotus Louise set to spoil the Victorian party on VSS finals night

A Group 1 success in start number two is what the New South Wales-trained Lotus Louise will be chasing ahead of his appearance in Saturday night's Always Ready Vicbred Super Series final for two-year-old trotting colts and geldings at Melton Entertainment Park.

The Kerryann Morris-trained squaregaiter ventured outside New South Wales for the first time for his debut run in the Vicbred heat on September 4 at Maryborough.

The Robert Morris-driven gelding led from the early stages to win by three meters. The son of Beautiful River headed back to his home state in preparation for Saturday night's $100,000 event.

"He has pulled up really well and headed straight back home (NSW) after Maryborough," KerryAnn said.

"We were wrapped with the way he handled everything.

"He has handled the run and the travel very well, and he will head back to Melbourne tomorrow (September 12). We have always thought that he had a bit of ability."

Lotus Louise has drawn one for the 2240m event with Robert Morris set to pilot the two-year-old.

"Sometimes one isn't the best draw, especially for baby trotters, there is a lot of things for him to look out for at Melton," she said.

"We are not going to knock it back (the draw) – One is a very good draw, and we hope he is on his best behaviour."

The gelding by Volsted is set to return to Victoria for the October 12, Group 1 Redwood Classic.

"We are going to hopefully bring him back for the Redwood at this stage," she said. "We are going to aim for some of those bigger races down there (Victoria) at the end of the year."

Saturday night's Always Ready Vicbred Super Series final for two-year-old trotting colts and geldings is set to score up at 7.03pm.
