Terry Erenshaw reigns from greyhound racing royalty being the grandson of Hall of Famer Ned Bryant.
Saturday night at Sandown Park will see Erenshaw line up Flying Envy in the Group 1 Bold Trease (715m), a raced named in honour of a greyhound bred by his Nana – Maureen Bryant, Ned Bryant's wife.
"This is one of the races I would love to win because of Nana," Terry Erenshaw said.
Flying Envy, bred by Terry and his partner Kim, is just two starts into her staying career and has already found her way into her first Group 1.
"We thought she would do well because she had been trialing super in the lead up and she also loves racing in a smaller field," Trainer Terry Erenshaw said.
Flying Envy claims the third heat of the Bold Trease, stopping the clock in a time of 41.76 seconds.
A string of missed placings over 600 metres looked less than desirable for Flying Envy heading into her Bold Trease heat, but it was all part Erenshaw's plan to have her primed for the Bold Trease.
"She doesn't like the bend starts over 600 metres but we needed to get the runs under her belt to have her ready for the heats," Erenshaw said.
Flying Envy held off Ella's Babe who is fast making a name for herself with her come-from-behind racing style.
Flying Envy has drawn box eight in the $113,000 Bold Trease, a box that Erenshaw believes will make it very hard to win from.
"She has got to begin and go straight to the fence to be any chance."
"There is plenty of speed in the race – it's certainly not your standard 700 metre race."
After a perfectly planned journey to 700 metre racing, Flying Envy will continue her career over the staying trip from here out.
"She pulled up a treat after the Bold Trease heat, and she has continued to show us how strong she is in trials."
