The four-time champ has made his selections.
Glen Boss won the Cox Plate on four occasions during his glittering career in the saddle.
That outstanding record in Australia’s premier weight-for-age event makes his word stronger than many others when it comes to tipping into the 2040m Group 1.
A field of nine classy gallopers will go around in the 2025 edition at Moonee Valley and Boss has narrowed it down to just a few.
The four-time champ has Antino on top but is quite cautious when it comes to Aeliana and Via Sistina - the latter who is attempting to defend her title.
“Antino is my tip,” Boss told SENTrack & RSN’s Giddy Up.
“But I looked at Aeliana this morning and she looks a picture of health. She looked to be moving pretty well.
“Via Sistina, I couldn’t fault her action. She looked brilliant.”
While Boss acknowledges that Via Sistina does have to improve off her recent runs, he simply cannot overlook a horse who is capable of winning a Cox Plate by eight lengths in race and track record time - as she did only 12 months ago.
He added: “She just needs a really solidly run race. Are we going to get that race this year?
“She’s been vulnerable in races with no tempo this year, but you just can’t get last year’s victory out of your mind.
“It’s going to be a hell of a race to watch.”
Saturday’s Cox Plate will be the final edition of the great race at The Valley as know it before the racecourse shuts for the next few years to undergo significant redevelopment.
Via Sistina is the $2 favourite with most bookies ahead of Antino at $3.50, Aeliana at $7 and Treasurethe Moment at $10.
