When is the Caulfield Cup barrier draw?

Caulfield Cup barrier draw.

The $5 million Group 1 Caulfield Cup will be run at Caulfield this Saturday after the barrier draw takes place on Wednesday morning.

The firm $2.60 favourite for the 2400m handicap is Half Yours, trained by Tony & Calvin McEvoy, after he ran a slashing fourth in the Group 1 Turnbull Stakes over 2000m at Flemington last time out.

He was posted as a clear favourite after a dominant triumph in the Group 3 Naturalism (2000m) at Caulfield on September 20.

Jamie Melham will ride Half Yours.

Buckaroo, who was runner-up last year, is still in the mix despite running third in a four-horse Might And Power at Caulfield last Saturday.

His quote of $11 with Sportsbet has him rated behind international raider Meydaan ($8) and last-start winner of The Metropolitan, Royal Supremacy ($10), who is trained by Ciaron Maher for Australian Bloodstock.

Also in the first half of the market is Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott’s Vauban, the Willie Mullins-trained Absurde and Maher’s Middle Earth.

Last year’s winner Duke De Sessa was denied the chance to defend his crown after a minor setback in early August ruled him out.
