WARWICK FARM May 8

TRACK RATING: Heavy 9; Rail: True

FOR VALUE

RACE 6: (5) GELATIN - Hard to be confident on what may be a bottomless track but this Snitzel 3YO is unbeaten in two starts on heavy tracks and they include a first-up win over this course and distance in December. A couple of solid trials have him ready for a repeat performance.

RACE 7: (7) NANSHE – Has only missed a place once in five starts and has taken the eye a couple of times with his efforts on affected tracks. Resumed with a strong third on a soft track at Kembla Grange and no reason why he won't improve off that effort.

TRIAL POINTERS

ROSEHILL May 2: Picked up on the ability of the unraced Extreme Choice colt EMIRATE in jump outs in Victoria before his transfer from Price/Kent to Chris Waller. His two trials since his switch to Sydney have labelled him as a good prospect. Never off the bit to finish a soft fourth in his 900m heat won by the free running SHALAA GOLD (54.85; 34.59) with the feature being his surging work through and after the line that indicated how much he had in reserve. Unraced Snitzel filly LADY SHENANDOAH went straight into the blackbook when she won her debut trial at this track last month and her impressive second in this 900m heat (54.69; 34.99)confirmed her potential. Settled under a hold in midfield before extending easily and taking good ground off the winner over the last 150m without any pressure being applied by James McDonald. Has the look of an early winner. Other youngsters to take the eye with their easy work included last start winner IMPERIAL FORCE and LECONFIELD.

RANDWICK April 30: A feature of the 2YO trials were the performances of some high priced yearlings with heat wins by the $1.3 million colt BRAVEHEART and the $550,000 purchase VOLATILE, two of the three juvenile winners on the day from the Snowden stable. The unraced BRAVEHEART produced his best effort in four trials to win his 1050m heat (62.76; 34.99) in good style from a previous trial winner. I've been a fan of VOLATILE since he won his first trial in October with lack of maturity showing in his early starts. His development now looks complete as he was too classy for his rivals in the fastest 742m heat (43.10; 32.76), running freely to win easily. Honourable mention to the talented MORAVIA worked well within himself for a soft win in his 1050m heat (62.34; 33.84). Maidens and 2YOs to watch out for include SOVEREIGN HILL and DECLICHY BOULEVARD.

WARWICK FARM April 26: Nice conditioning trials from BAROQUE ROAD and BACCHANALIA, who was a strong winner of his 801m heat (47.48; 33.50) in his first trial for his new trainer Richard Litt. Some nice trials in the 2YO heats with Marc Conners' unraced SHEZASIREN adding to her unbeaten trial record with another sharp performance in the fastest 797m heat (46.03; 33.45). Her three trial wins have all been at Warwick Farm over short courses where she has simply been too fast for her rivals. JELLICIOUS was another unraced filly to make an excellent impression winning her heat. The attractive Snitzel filly made nice improvement from a placing in her first trial at this course on April 12 with an impressive win her 801m heat (46.89; 33.38). Let down strongly under no pressure from two lengths off the leader on the turn, running away for a soft win under a cold ride with a lot in reserve. It was nice work. I'm not a fan of polytrack trials but it there was plenty to like about the way the heat winners JAMBALAYA and TULLE went about their business.

ROSEHILL April 23: Is there a faster short course mare in Sydney than PASSEGGIATA? Another brilliant trial win by this out and out speedster in her 900m heat (53.35; 33.97), leading by 10 lengths on the turn and maintaining that margin to the line in easily the fastest of the heats over the distance. It's just a matter of Bjorn Baker finding the right short course sprint for her first-up.

RANDWICK April 8: Impressive second trial by unraced Zoustar filly CLEAN ENERGY, showing nice improvement from her first trial in November to win her 735m heat in sharp time (42.86; 33.02). Her keen sprint to the line for a soft win points to early success. Another Waterhouse/Bott performer to make an impression was the heat winner THE LITTLE PUMPER.

RANDWICK March 22: The speedster PASSEGGIATA made a winning return in the fastest 740m heat (43.00; 32.86), showing her usual pace to burn them off and get home narrowly.

RECENT TRIAL WATCH WINNERS: Zoe's Promise; Contemporary; Rise Of The Masses; Parisal; Graceful Artist; Lizzie's Gem; Spring Lee; Waterford; Highlights; Ikasara; Redbreast; Jedibeel; Call Me Gorgeous; Battle Of Vienna; Perfumist; Overpass; Piggyback; Joey D'Or; Celestial Legend; Espionage; Diva Las Vegas; Physical Graffiti; Inquisitive Legend; Rantan
