Robert Smerdon chalked up his 100th Victorian winner for the season when Stoneblack scored a comfortable win at Sandown on Wednesday and the leading trainer was quick to praise the work of Aquanita staff. "It's a wonderful milestone to reach, but it would not have been achievable without the great support from the Aquanita staff", He told Nadia Horne on Racing Ahead this morning.
"A lot of work goes on behind the scenes, and for me personally, it allows me to focus solely on training horses and not having to worry too much about the administration side of the business." "The move to Aquanita has been a tremendous benefit for my career and has allowed me to become a better trainer over the years."
Smerdon became the fourth trainer to win 100 races in Victoria this season, joining fellow Caulfield colleagues Peter Moody and Mick Price as well as Ballarat conditioner Darren Weir. Meanwhile, stable star Mosheen is expected to return to the races in mid August. "She is coming along really well", Smerdon said. "She's been back in the system for sometime now, looks good, done well and she'll probably go to the Cranbourne trials in a few weeks with a view to kick off in August."
