Overseas On Radar For Buffering

With no Black Caviar this spring, Robert Heathcote is hoping the time is right for perennial G1 bridesmaid Buffering. Speaking with Shane Anderson on Racing Ahead this morning, Queensland's premier trainer said the seven time G1 place-getter was thriving ahead of his return.

"He is due back at the stables on Monday and will have eight weeks into the Schillaci. He comes to hand rather quickly and has run blinders first up in the past, so I'm confident he'll put his best foot forward this time in", He said. "Hopefully he can find another couple of lengths as he reaches maturity this campaign."

Heathcote has outlined a three race Melbourne program for Buffering with a possibility of a fourth run in either Hong Kong or Perth. "At this stage I'm committed to running in the Schillaci, Manikato and Patinack. Following those runs if he's fit and well and hasn't trained off we may look at Hong Kong or the Winterbottom Stakes." Heathcote said.

"I'm very excited about his spring. He's given the owners and myself a lot of joy, and if he continues to make improvements he'll be tough to beat in whatever he runs in."
