Racing & Sports expert selections.
RACE 1 - HERE COMES HOGAN (3) only beat two rivals when scoring on a heavy track at Scone a month ago but the writing was on the wall with two nice placings prior. Nice city trial since and hard to beat. SNAPPY JIM (5) gets the chance to improve in the small field after a couple of fair efforts this time in. PUERTO RICO (2) can be placed on his best form and will be fitter for one run back at Moree. KHAALEJ (8) and I IZ BRILLIANT (7) have place hopes.
RACE 2 - CHAMP DE MARS (2) is racing in good form on a variety of surfaces and just failed after leading at Gundagai last week. Drawn to get every chance again. SHOT OUT (3) is the big query at first run for new stable and did trial against Group horses a few weeks back. Keep safe. QUEEN CALANTHE (9) led and weakened late when safely held at Newcastle first-up. Easier here and capable of improvement. MOOSHAKA (1) and SHELLY'S ACE (5) are right in this.
RACE 3 - KILLER KERR (5) was racing well before starting favourite and weakening after leading to beat one home at Wyong two weeks ago. Much better than that and unbeaten here. Go well. DUBAI CENTRE (1) was runner-up twice at Moruya before stepping up to the mile and not featuring at Canberra. That's the only query with him whether he runs a mile but big chance here if he does. MULVADER (2) won over this trip at Sapphire Coast three runs back then failed twice in Sydney so overlook them. LADY DEVINE (6) and MOE MISCHIEF (7) have claims.
RACE 4 - GOLDEN FAIRY (6) has mixed her form a bit of late but just beaten two runs back before drawing wide and never in the hunt at Moruya three weeks ago. Good chance to bounce back. JUKEBOX MONEY (11) is getting close to a win after placings in his past two runs and did a good job at Queanbeyan last time. Has to be included. BOUND TO FIRE (1) ran well here first-up before a plodding effort at Goulburn in a race that looks a little stronger than this. Can show up. BLAZING BEVERLEY (7) and FORNESS (10) could be place hopes.
RACE 5 - SUNRISE (1) is fitter for two runs back and showed some nice improvement at Hawkesbury last week. Down in grade here and chance to break through. DAME ANNIE (7) wasn't fancied in the betting when she led all the way to an easy maiden win at Gundagai. If she can repeat the effort she's in the finish. SPENCER'S SPIRIT (3) was placed first-up last time in and has trialled quite well leading into this. One to keep an eye on. POINT OUT (2) and RAINAGAIN (6) have to be included.
RACE 6 - SOOBOOGELISCIOUS (2) won nicely when resuming at Dubbo before beaten at odds-on at Queanbeyan. Can forgive a failure at that track, gets a nice set up and should be in the finish. TILLMAN (6) is as honest as they come and while he doesn't win regularly he can hold his form and be around the mark again. TAYTAY BAY (4) made some ground when resuming at Canberra and will have some upside going into this race. One of the chances. HOBBSY (3) can improve and THE RIGHT REIN (9) off a first-up win has claims.
RACE 7 - CASHBURN (8) has been hitting the line impressively in her trials and lands the inside gate in a country grade race for her debut. If she brings her trial form to the races she's the one to beat. LUCILAGO (16) was favourite when running fourth at Muswellbrook second-up, making a bit of ground. Fitter and chance to feature here. ABSOLUTE POWER (1) hasn't raced since missing a place on a heavy track here back in February when hard in the market. Fitter for a couple of trials and stays under notice fresh. LADY FELINA (10) and BORDER TOWN (3) are worth keeping safe.
