Racing & Sports expert selections.
RACE 1 - Tricky race. CAMPFIRE JACK (1) went under over 2020m at Broome most recently and makes his way back to Belmont now. He's been close on a few occasions and looks to have found a suitable race. Jumped favourite last start and over a similar trip at Northam last campaign. Can make the most of this opportunity. RUBICK DELIGHT (3) has been well beaten in her past couple but this looks a much better race for her. She draws the inside and should get her chance under Faithfull. Expecting her to be in the finish. GUN LAKE (2) was good two back at Pinjarra before finishing behind Rubick Delight last start at Northam. The 2kg claim of Gaerth comes in handy and he's expected to go close with more upside than his rivals. STRUTTING FOR CASH (6) will be fitter for two runs back and has claims with no weight on her back.
RACE 2 - JACKPOT BINGO (2) was strong on resumption in 3YO Open company in Saturday grade 11 days ago, beaten just 1L. Fitter for that effort and back to midweek company are both big ticks. He'll need some luck from the alley, but he rates highly and he'll be hard to hold out if the breaks come. THE TOP BAR (1) has been a model of consistency this time in work, finishing just 0.5L off the winner in this grade most recently. Out to this trip again where he was placed just three starts back, but he's a fitter horse now. Should find the front and take catching. SNIPPY SEAN (6) should be at his peak now third-up and Chris Parnham takes the ride. He showed good early speed last start so they may press on again from an awkward alley. Still has upside and is not to be discounted. ROYAL TROOPER (5) now gets Pike in the saddle from a better draw and up in trip. He ticks plenty of boxes. AH KUM (3) closed off well last time out and has claims back to this easier company.
RACE 3 - MISS WALL STREET (2) got the job done as favourite at Northam last start, winning by 0.4L in a strong effort. She'll be fitter again now third-up and this looks to set up similarly to last start. She still has plenty of upside and with further improvement expected, she can win again. AYUMI (3) gets the Tongue Tie on for the first time following a 1.2L defeat as favourite ate Northam last time out. She hasn't won for a little while, but the form from her last start has been franked and she maps well. Sure to go close once again. CAMERA ACTION (1) ran over the top to win impressively at Kalgoorlie last start and has been competitive in stronger races in Saturday Grade last campaign. Expecting her to go to another level now with the aid of a good draw. Can repeat the dose. FLINDERS LANE (4) just missed last start and gets the blinkers on again third-up. Must be included. PIERRA ART (6) can improve off the fresh effort with a better barrier today.
RACE 4 - DECORATION (1) was on the 7-day back up when beaten a nostril last start over 1400m. Getting back onto a firmer surface should suit and Chris Parnham remaining in the saddle is a positive sign. Can improve again now out to this trip and he can go one better today. MISSILE STORM (4) got the job done by 0.5L over the mile at Northam last time out and put up a strong rating there. He draws to get his chance once again for Brad Parnham and if he can run up to what he did last start, he'll go close to winning. MASTER TACTICIAN (2) is better than he showed last start, finishing 4.6L off the winner over a longer trip last time out. Back to this level and drawing a better gate are two big ticks for him. Can bounce back in a big way. ZERO CONSEQUENCE (5) disappointed last start but was better in his first two runs this time in. Can bounce back. WOZZECK (3) can improve second-up and put his best foot forward.
RACE 5 - CORRECT CHOICE (1) disappointed last start when beaten 3L after a good win over this trip at Bunbury prior. He drops back into an easier race today and William Pike taking the ride is a big tick. Drawn nicely and can get back to winning ways. ONE PUNCH (3) ran over the top to miss by 2.2L over this course and distance last time out in CL3 company. Back to a CL1 today, with the claim of Gaerth coming in handy. Best form is good enough and he's expected to put his best foot forward. SUNBRONZED (6) got too far back over 1200m here following some strong efforts over 1000m to start the campaign. Out to this trip for the first time, but it doesn't appear an issue and he still has plenty of upside. Right in the mix on best form. DRINKS ON ME (2) has been disappointing over the mile of late but was a winner over this track and trip first-up. Can bounce back. FELLAFROMDOWNUNDER (4) can make an impression first-up.
RACE 6 - MADE IN MEXICO (4) may not have handled the heavy going last start at Pinjarra following a strong run at Belmont in Saturday grade prior. He gets Pike back in the saddle from a favourable alley and he was trending the right way before last start's hiccup. Comes into this fresh and can bounce back. SUNNY HONEY (1) ran on strongly from toward the back over 1200m here in Saturday company. Back to the midweeks now, with Martinan's 3kg claim coming in handy. Goes well at this course and distance and is expected to put his best foot forward. EMPRESS OF INDIA (8) is better than she showed first-up and the inside draw can see her sit closer in the run. MAGNALEE (2) won't be far away on resumption.
RACE 7 - STORMAGEDDON (4) ran over the top to score narrowly at Northam last time out, winning in a photo finish. William Pike now takes the ride, and he should be handy from the inside alley. Back slightly in trip isn't a worry and if he can improve again third-up, he'll be very hard to beat. DREAMTIME JEAN (2) stretched out in trip at the end of last campaign after being successful over this trip. Suspect this suits her a little better and she's won a trial coming into today. Goes well fresh and she won't be far away with the winkers on first time. GOLD KEEPER (5) turned in a good fresh effort over this course and distance and usually improves second-up. He's never missed the placings at this track and trip and while he hasn't won for a while, he's expected to go close in this suitable event. STATE OF FURY (8) resumes without a trial but does race well over this trip. Brad Parnham riding is a good push. PROSPECTOR'S PICK (3) is better than he showed last start and can feature back in grade.
