Racing & Sports expert selections.
RACE 1 - AIN'T NOBODY (1) peaks for a sharp metro barn and is ready to win over the longer distance. He was heavily bet here last time and a top hoop rides. DAWN PARTY (3) has been knocking on the door and went close at Lismore this trip last time. He races forward and rates a winning chance. HOW YA BEEN ANYWAY (5) comes back to the turf and that suits better. He's at his best over this trip and maps for a soft run. FIONTE (11) went close at Toowoomba and she has the first-time blinkers applied. She will be around the mark.
RACE 2 - It's hard to risk the Gollan yard given its strength and TIPSY TIGER (10) should prove tough to beat. Draws inside and brings a solid Doomben trial. The Edmonds barn has a good record at this track and with newcomers. READY TO SCHIPP (9) has had two trials and will be well prepared. STATE IN TEXAS (2) has looked good at the Beaudesert trials and is another that creates interest. PARTY ISLAND (11) has the rail and race fitness and experience. His effort here on debut was okay.
RACE 3 - The speedy SOFALA (3) led beaten a whisker at the Sunshine Coast on debut. Resumes today and will be naturally improved. She is well-placed with the 3kg claim and is advantaged by an inside barrier. MORGANITE (1) led here on debut narrowly beaten. She will be better for that but draws awkwardly again. The 2kg claim is handy and it's hard to risk the premier yard. PRINCESS MONEYBAGS (7) is a likely improver from the Heathcote barn. The top hoop goes aboard and that's a decent push for her chances. BENGAL DIAMOND (10) resumes and didn't miss by too much two back on debut. She trialled sharply and must be kept safe.
RACE 4 - Gollan-trained HEARTS ARE RACING (5) led beaten a half-length at Toowoomba showing much better form. She has the key jockey switch to Orman and fitter again can go one better. WITHEREN LASS (3) placed here on debut and resumes owning a Beaudesert trial placing. Maps well and is sure to have come on. Maloney's booking suggests she's pleasing. READY NEDDY GO (2) debuts and owns a Doomben trial win. She has an awkward barrier but KWT rides and has a decent record with the stable. She looks promising. HI JULES (4) resumes and has placed 2/2 fresh. Races forward and her best would see her very competitive.
RACE 5 - EVERSTAR (2) led narrowly beaten at Doomben and then things didn't work out at the Sunshine Coast. He will be fitter again and is advantaged by an inside gate. Boris Thornton rides today and a bounce is likely. SIMPLY EXCELS (1) debuts for the premier yard and Orman sticks off a solid Doomben trial. No surprise if he races boldly. LION'S PRIDE (3) was well supported but folded up at Gatton on resumption. He's trialled solidly at Doomben since and his form last preparation makes good reading. Maps well and quick improvement is likely. STAVRITZEL (4) switched from a Victorian yard and resumed improved beaten a long neck at Grafton. He will push forward and won't have to improve much to fight out the finish.
RACE 6 - SHOT OF WHISKEY (1) seeks the hat-trick off a heavily-bet CL2 win at the Sunshine Coast. He should be better again and will use an inside barrier. He rates to go on with the job. THE LUCKY ALIEN (3) was plain at Dalby but the form here each side of that would see him right in it. The extra metres are a niggle but he will run along from the rails gate and Orman sticking aboard is a lead. The blinkers come off BAUHINIA ROCK (2) and expect him to go a lot better. He's won a Doomben trial since last seen and Maloney is a key jockey switch. NEW JOY (6) resumes from a soft draw and has a couple of pieces of form that would give her a chance.
RACE 7 - Tough. MIGHTY JUDD (13) draws out but wasn't beaten far at Doomben over 1350m and has laid a good foundation for the 1710km. He's placed his only try and the trip and keeps Stanley. He gets the nod. EXPLICABLE (1) won the Maiden here and then went close at Lismore. Maps for the run of the race and is a winning chance. WINTER'S PROMISE (12) can use the rail and measure her ability on the decent Maiden win two back. The longer distance is likely to benefit. DUMA (9) will use the low gate and keeps the handy 3kg claim. Has been nudged out her last two over a mile and she's also a winning chance.
RACE 8 - STORM DREAMER (3) won a Gatton Maiden as expected and was beaten a whisker at Doomben following in stronger. Collett sticks aboard and she maps for a soft run. She can bounce back. DECEMBER DIAMOND (4) has pieces of form that would see her very competitive in a weak 58 and she finally has a low barrier. Maloney's booking creates plenty of interest. ISLA'S DAY (1) did a good job beaten 2.2L at Lismore first-up. She gives away starts but will be fitter and has placed 2/3 second-up. ARISTELLA (8) resumed at Doomben 58 days ago and was outgraded. She's won a Beaudesert trial since and can win at best. Draws well and is proven second-up. Keep safe at a price.
RACE 9 - PARUES (10) improved again beaten a whisker here this grade and the speedy galloper has strong claims in this lineup. TEE AMICI (2) can skip over and control the race. He's won two of his last three with the latest at Gatton as favourite. He will give a sight. WORTHY ESSGEE (6) won a CL1 at Toowoomba spiking his figures. Maps well and can make the finish holding that form. TOOLATEMATE (3) peaks and has been racing in stronger city grade. Has the rail and can go better at this level and back to a sprint.
