Racing & Sports expert selections.
RACE 1 - JEWEL DE LUNE (10) has threatened at Gawler her last two over 1500m and ran favourite the latest. Gives every indication the 1800m will suit and is on the quick back-up. Finds the right race. INAGURATE (9) improved beaten 1.8L dropping back to this distance in a stronger Maiden in town. Can secure a soft run from an inside gate and is also on a quick return. KETCHIKAN (6) peaks off stronger races in town. Is back after 8-days and would be right in it at best. Draws awkwardly but Pannell is a key jockey switch for the apprentice.MAIDEN FLIGHT (11) has had two starts and got closer at Gawler the latest over 1500m. Should enjoy the longer trip and has upside. Value proposition.
RACE 2 - VINTAGE STAR (7) resumes for a top barn and has trialled solidly at Morphettville. Led and wasn't beaten too far here on debut and is sure to have come on. He can use the low barrier and give a sight. BONNY IMPACT (11) led at Gawler and held on to place when expected to need the outing. Will position forward and is a hope with the extra fitness. STREETCAR APOLLO (4) draws wide but Crowther is a key jockey switch for the apprentice. Tired late from the speed in town on debut and will strip fitter. In good hands and quick improvement is likely. KINDRA PARK (6) has a 3kg claim and showed enough on debut to suggest he can get some of the money.
RACE 3 - CALL ME VEXATIOUS (1) will be better for the two solid efforts at Morphettville in better grade with the latest over 1800m. Races forward and finally has a low barrier. The extra 200m suits and he's well placed. NIGHT CRUISER (4) led over 1800m and was much too good for the Morphettville Maidens. May control the race from the rail and will get every chance to manage the extra 200m. DIVINE BREW (2) improved to place in the Call Me Vexatious race after a slow start and wide run. Is likely to settle more forward today and is in the mix. PICK ME (5) resumed over 1700m and looked in need of the run. His middle-distance form from the back of the previous campaign stacks right up. Expect quick improvement.
RACE 4 - EXOPIPI (3) has been knocking on the door and finds easier than the Morphettville outing over this distance. Needs some luck from the low gate but the smallish field benefits. Hard to beat. RED SEQUOIA (8) has been racing in town and hits this at peak fitness. Has won twice this distance and is on an 8-day return. Drops 2kg and is a chance. MASTER OF ZERPRISE (2) is third-up and looking for this trip. Can't be ruled out. CAMPOBASSO (1) resumes at the middle distance for the Alexander bros. It's an ask but he's good enough at best and Pannell is a positive jockey booking. A betting watch.
RACE 5 - Cpmpetive. BIT OF A REBEL (2) is a leader who was comfortably too good for the 58 graders at Strathalbyn over this distance improving again. Peaks now and keeps the handy 3kg claim. He can go on with it. DUAL FUEL (8) has been threatening in stronger in town. Coming back 200m shouldn't bother and she's a chance to go one better. Stablemate A TOUCH FROSTY (5) comes out of the Bit Of A Rebel race beaten 1L as a $3 favourite. Third-up and the blinkers are applied again. Can secure the run of the race and also presents as a deceny chance. ANDREW'S MEMORY (6) rates well and will push forward. Peaks for this and also deserves consideration.
RACE 6 - Competitive. HUNTLEY LADY (6) resumes for a leading yard. Was beaten a nose in a 68 before the spell and was good in 70 grade here prior. Flies fresh and is well placed with the 3kg claim. CHEEKY CHEEKYBELLA (5) led and missed a lip here this grade before the spell and resumes off that peak. Runs along and is in well with the 3kg claim. Has won fresh and she may go on with it now. WOLF CITY (2) led and demolished the Oakbank Maidens on debut heavily bet. Returns off a 693-day break and that's the query. Trialled recently in town and the late betting moves should tell the story. ELSA'S PRIDE (7) resumed in stronger and needed the outing. Has plenty up the sleeve and has won second-up. Has a wide gate but Pannell goes on for the apprentice and that's a positive.
RACE 7 - MAVETTE (3) resumed with the 58 win here from the back and then sat on the speed at Balaklava after and was narrowly beaten. Has the opportunity to skip over and control the race and keeps the handy 2kg claim. Strips fitter and back in grade is a decent chance to bounce. COMMANDER MEROO (6) was outgraded two back in town but the form around that stacks up. Has a low gate and the in-form Toeroek is booked. IMPOSING SUSPECT (5) is right up to this at best and goes second-up. Will give them a start but no surprise to see him hitting the line hard. RULING GODDESS (13) spiked the form winning the CL1 and can build on that. LYNDA'S LEGACY (10) has a low barrier and 3kg claim and can build on the 56 win.
