Racing & Sports expert selections.
RACE 1 - ONEMORETWOMANY (4) makes his debut and is a half-brother to the stakes-winning Wollombi. He was good in his first trial, but his second over 1000m was the most impressive. Brad Parnham rides and he looks to have plenty of ability. Can make a winning start to his career. AH KUM (2) hit the line nicely in his only trial at Lark Hill and gave the impression this trip won't be an issue on debut. He's a sibling to a few handy types and Lucy Fiore will have plenty of options from the draw. Expecting a forward showing. SCENIC GEORGE (1) is the only one to have race experience. He was very green on debut and should benefit plenty from that experience. Can use that to his advantage and make his presence felt. APHRODITE MAGIC (6) has only had the one short course trial coming in but there were some good signs. From a sharp stable and must be respected. BATTLE COMMANDER (3) hit the line locked with Aphrodite Magic and has claims also.
RACE 2 - THE BOSS LADY (6) scored a tough win over this course and distance 17 days ago and continued her sharp improvement. Drawn ideally once again with the blinkers going on first time. Still on the way up and can continue her winning streak. BARNEY'S WORLD (3) went under narrowly when favourite at Northam last time out on the back of a good maiden win at Kalgoorlie. The extra 100m will help and a return to his best form would see him hard to beat. RUN PATTIE RUN (8) couldn't have done much more when running over the top to score by 0.3L on debut. Pike is a key booking which is an added push for her chances. She won't be far away with any improvement. SNOW PRINCE (1) never really threatened last week but is on the quick back-up. Can bounce back to prior form. HOME JAMES (2) has been big odds his past couple but out to 1200m should suit this son of Maurice. Include.
RACE 3 - MISS INTENTION (6) was very impressive two back and lost no admirers when left with a lot to do last time out, beaten just 0.2L when charging home from the rear. She now draws much better and carries less weight than she did last start in the same grade. She's the one to beat. BERNBRAE (4) stuck on well last time out to finish 2L off the winner. Gets plenty of weight relief today, dropping 6kg after the claim of ZJP. Placed 2/2 third-up and can make her presence felt. DIAMOND SCENE (5) beat home Bernbrae when getting the job done over 1800m last time out and rises in trip for the first time. He meets Bernbrae a little worse at the weights, but does have more upside. Winning hope. STRIKE NOW (2) wasn't far away last time out and comes right into calculations with the apprentice claim. STYLAX (1) has been good his past couple and merits plenty of respect.
RACE 4 - PLAYZ WITH FIRE (9) ran on strongly here first up and should take good benefit from the hit-out. Right around his best first-up with improvement to come and he's a second-up winner previously. Pike sticking adds confidence and he looks set for a return to the winners' stall. ON THE FULL (3) hit the line alongside the top pick last time out and does meet him slightly better at the weights. Suspect he'll make his own luck up on the speed again and take plenty of catching. DEAMBER (6) got the job done over 1400m last time out and drops back in trip today which is a slight niggle. She's been favourite her last three starts though and does have plenty of upside. Wouldn't surprise to see her get the job done. RULING DAME (10) may be looking for further but stuck on well enough here off a freshen last start. Include. FAST FLICKER (11) wasn't far away last start and won't be far away at the finish.
RACE 5 - COSMIC CRUSADER (7) ran very well without winning last time out when dropping back in trip, beaten just 0.7L when forcing his way into the clear. He steps back out to the mile where he was a big winner previously and he can return to winning ways in this suitable assignment. PLAYHOUSE PATRON (4) was away slowly and was left with too much to do last time out, finishing 2.6L away in a great effort in the end. Can finish much closer with a better break this time and is right up to winning on best figures. MOUNTAIN ASH (5) was only collared late last time out over 1800m and drops back in trip this time. He'll carry less weight and does have the pace to negate the wide draw. Loves the track and trip and is not to be discounted. BENJI'S (2) tailed out last time but gets the senior jock and a better gate this time. Can improve, DESENNEA (6) has plenty of upside and can build on his last start win.
RACE 6 - CASINO SEVENTEEN (1) rattled home in the Northam Cup fresh, finishing 1.6L off the winner. He boasts a strong second-up record and draws better today which can see him sit closer in the run. Pike's happy to stick with him which adds confidence and he can return to the winners' stall. POMPEY (12) beat the top pick by a length in the Northam Cup but steps out to this trip for the first time. Breeding suggests he'll get the extra journey and he'll be around the speed making his own luck. Key player. BE OPTIMISTIC (9) knuckled down to win the Kalgoorlie Cup last start and drops in trip off a 5-week freshen. Draw is some concern but if he can run up to the Kal Cup winning figure he'll be in the finish. QUEEN ALINA (13) showed good signs running on from the back and out to this trip is ideal. Big chance. BAD WOLF (8) won in easier grade last time out but the figures read very well. Can mix it with this field.
RACE 7 - ROPE THEM IN (3) is only four starts into his career and returned with a new peak fresh in the Belgravia when beaten 1.2L. He draws the best barrier he's seen in his career this time and showed good improvement when out to this trip last campaign. Looks very hard to beat with improvement to come. ZIPAWAY (2) rattled home from midfield to win in good time at this track and trip 21 days ago. The draw is some niggle but he continues to make big jumps in his figures and can notch up his first stakes victory in this suitable assignment. A LOT OF GOOD MEN (1) finished just behind Rope Them In last start and faces a similar setup this time around. Out to 1400m for the first time is the question, but he gives the impression he'll relish the extra trip. Big chance. BLUE LAGOON (6) wasn't fat behind Zipaway last time out and has claims. PLEASURE CRUISE (5) drops back in trip off a good run last start and must be respected with Pike in the saddle.
RACE 8 - VALOUR ROAD (1) just missed last start in the Eurythmic when running right up to his best on that occasion. The barrier is a niggle but he's hard to knock on his two runs back this time in. Racing well and looks the one to beat. BUSTLER (9) gets a pass mark for his first-up run and will benefit from the hit-out. He draws much better this time around and can stick his nose right into the finish. DOM TO SHOOT (6) doesn't boast the best strike rate first-up but his last two fresh efforts have been fantastic. Trialled really well coming in and will be making his presence felt. THE VELVET QUEEN (13) just missed in the Belmont Sprint at her only start last campaign, but her trials since have only been fair. She boasts a strong first-up record though and should get every chance from the draw. Bound to make her presence felt. MASSIMO (3) just missed in the Eurythmic but draws out a little this time. Good run there though and has won this the past two years.
RACE 9 - ROCKIN' RUPERT (3) was no match for the winner last time out but is inching closer to a win. Barrier 3 can see him sit much closer in the run this time around and if he runs up to his best figures he'll be getting the job done. PLAYTHATFUNKYMUSIC (1) is searching for the hat-trick after winning by 2.5L over 1300m just last week. They were at Kalgoorlie though and this is tougher, but winning form is good form and he can be right there at the finish. CELEBRITY PRINCE (5) rattled home last time out to finish 1.9L off the winner and gets in with no weight on his back again after the claim of Gaerth. Expecting him to get back once again but can be rattling home at the finish. EEVALINA (8) just missed last start and drops in weight for this assignment. Has to be included. MAGIC TO EXCEED (2) brings strong form over this trip and can be about the finish.
