The Mick Price and Michael Kent Jnr stable are regulars at campaigning their horses over the border in Adelaide and will again make the trip for Finals Day at Morphettville

The Cranbourne-based trainers have Big Story engaged in the Skybeau Final (2500m) on Saturday, with the gelding looking to go back-to-back on the main Adelaide track.

After running third over 2014m at Morphettville on October 19, Big Story returned to Adelaide two weeks later to win over 2043m.

The rise to 2500m on Saturday will be Big Story's first attempt at the trip.

"He's going super," Kent Jnr said.

"He's really coming into his own this preparation, getting out over these staying trips.

"He's yet to be tested at 2500 metres, but he won by a big margin eased down last time over 2000, so he gives every indication he should enjoy it, now he's a more mature horse.

"He's drawn a bit wide, but that's fine, he'll just flow back and rest.

"We are on the big track, and Manoel Nunes has really clicked with this horse.

"From a trainer's point of view, we can't fault our horse going into the big final."

A five-time champion jockey in Singapore, Nunes moved to Adelaide when racing ceased in Singapore at the start of October and already has banked nine metropolitan winners to sit sixth on the Jockeys' Premiership.

Kent Jnr said the stable likes to call on Adelaide's leading riders when they head across the border and Nunes fits that bill.

"He's riding in great form, and we've really enjoyed getting to know Manoel," Kent Jnr said.

"He rode a treble there a couple of weeks ago and he was Singapore's leading rider. He's now going great down here, and he's settled in very quickly.

"We like to use the top bunch of riders on the Premiership table typically, and we've used him and when you have a bit of luck right away, you tend to stick with them.

"If we get some more luck on Saturday, he might become a permanent fixture of the team."
