CAULFIELD

Group 1 - Henley Homes Underwood Stakes

(3yo+ WFA - 1800m)

Race Result:

1st: Buckaroo (C Waller/J Moreira) - $9
2nd: Huetor (P Snowden/M Dee) - $61
3rd: Pericles (J Cummings/B Shinn) - $4.40

Winning Time: 1:49.00 Last 600m: N/A

Margins: 3-½ lengths x 1/2 length

Beaten jockey comments:

Billy Egan (Vow And Declare): ""Very honest and probably a Bart Cummings or a Caulfield Cup on a dry track he'd be a chance."

Blake Shinn (Pericles): "The horse ran very well. I think probably the 1800 just found the better of him today but he stuck on well. I thought we had a good run, he ran well, but I think back to a mile you could see the best of him."

Jamie Mott (Munhamek): "I thought he potentially might have come to the end of the prep. He's been racing in great heart, so maybe time for a rest now."

Michael Dee (Huetor): "Probably went a bit better than expected, but I know the horse has the ability and we saw that today."

Ben Melham (Bois D'argent): "Will derive good fitness benefit from the run."

Tyler Schiller (Fawkner Park): "He felt great. I just put the performance today down to being on the inside of the track. I tried to get him out as best as I could early, but he just got forced a long way back and held up on the inside having been in the worst part of the track. I thought his effort was gallant."

Craig Williams (Knight's Choice): "He was first-up today in Melbourne, he acquitted himself really well at this distance range the way the race was run and he's in for a nice preparation."

Declan Bates (Duke De Sessa): "He went very good. He began well, so we've ended up in front, he's that type of horse - you can let him bowl along - and he was hard-fit today. Obviously a couple were just sharper than him today but he's stuck to the task well and was good through the line so it was a good run."

Mark Zahra (Place Du Carrousel): "She got herself into a bit of a state pre-race, which wasn't ideal. She travelled alongside the winner and I would have preferred to come out but I had to go in but she still didn't really attack the line like we'd like. I think she just needs to be a little bit calmer before the race and a little bit more cut in the ground would help."

Jye McNeil (Deny Knowledge): "She ran terrific."

Jamie Kah (Coco Sun): "She ran well. She's definitely on the right path, she just stepped away slow and that put her on the back foot from then onwards."

RANDWICK

Group 3 - James Squire Kingston Town Stakes

(3yo+ SW&P - 2000m)

Race Result:

1st: Eliyass (G Waterhouse & A Bott/T Clark) - $4
2nd: Ceolwulf (J Pride/J McDonald) - $2.80F
3rd: Golden Path (M Price & M Kent Jnr/C Schofield) - $3

Winning Time: 2:01.54  Last 600m: 33.88

Margins: Long Neck x 2L

Beaten jockey comments:

Nash Rawiller (Kalapour): "I think he has come up well. Managed to get out to his trip, a bit one paced today. Still like the way he has hit the line."

Regan Bayliss (Military Mission): "A good run. Now that he is getting a little bit older I think he is looking for the 2400m."

Rachel King (Alegron): "Super first up run. Plenty of improvement there. I think he is going really well."

Josh Parr (Zeyrek): No comment

Adam Hyeronimus (Serpentine): "I thought he ran really well first up."

Dylan Gibbons (Adelaide River): "He is a very good horse. His brain just didn't let him be that today."

Jason Collett (Athabascan): "He worked home fine. Just in a different race on straightening."

Reece Jones (Trust In You): "Ran home well. Wants to step out over a bit further. Not bad first up here."

James McDonald (Ceolwulf): "He ran well. Presented like the winner. Credit to the winner. He is tough as boots."

Chad Schofield (Golden Path): "Really good effort again. A young stayer who continues to improve. Had a while between runs and will take benefit from today."

Zac Wadick (El Bodegon): "I thought he has done well in that grade. It seemed like they raced in two groups. He was finished off the second group and wasn't beaten far. A good run."

Tommy Berry (Valiant King): "He spent a lot of the race trying to get onto his Melbourne leg. I was sort of on that one rein a little bit. You see he gets a little bit uncomfortable and tangled up around the bend. He might be worth sending to Melbourne where he has raced well in the past."

Jay Ford (Star Of India): "He actually ran reasonably well. Will be better for the run. Only had two runs in two years."

Zac Lloyd (Land Legend): "He ran really well. Just an out and out stayer who is finding the line as he was from the 400. The further the better for him. Step up in trip will do him well."

Kerrin McEvoy (Zardozi): "She landed close but she sort of over-travelled in the mid-stages which didn't help her finish."

Group 3 - Bill Ritchie Handicap

(3yo+ Quality - 1400m)

Race Result:

1st: McHale (C Waller/R King) - $26
2nd: Gringotts (C Maher/T Berry) - $4.60
3rd: Felix Majestic (G Nickson/M Bourke) - $18

Winning Time: 1:22.36  Last 600m: 34.30

Margins: Nose x ¼L

Beaten jockey comments:

Chad Schofield (Amenable): "He was good late. The early tempo didn't help. He was good through the line."

Nash Rawiller (Freedom Rally): "He half had control of the race for the first 100m and then Phearson took control to set the race alight again. My bloke got pulling and didn't really finish off."

Jay Ford (Rustic Steel): "Lovely return. Will only improve."

James McDonald (Tom Kitten): "Just a muddling run race didn't suit him."

Adam Hyeronimus (Phearson): "It was race over once he blew the start then it was a bit of a disaster after that. And he's pulled a front shoe off."

Tim Clark (Airman): "He ran OK. He will improve with that run under his belt."

Tommy Berry (Gringotts): "A bit of a funny run race. I thought there was going to be a lot more speed in it than that. He travelled really well for me. Two horses who I thought would take me into the race didn't. Lucky to breathe in and take a gap. He was good late. He was here to run well. He is spot on for the Big Dance."

Jason Collett (Kintyre): "No luck from the gate. Brave effort to be where he finished."

Zac Lloyd (Cafe Millenium): "Really disappointing for the connections. This horse is going really well but that race was over in the first furlong. The horse that missed the kick woke him up and he over-raced from there."

Kerrin McEvoy (Scarlet Oak): "We travelled closer than I first thought we'd do. We travelled fine. Didn't round the race off which is a concern for a nice mare. The ground might have been on the quick side for her."

Molly Bourke (Felix Majestic): "He ran a super race. A very tough run by him. He's just getting to his peak now."

Group 2 - Darley Tea Rose Stakes

(3yo F SW - 1400m)

Race Result:

1st: Autumn Glow (C Waller/J McDonald) - $2.05F
2nd: Snow In May (J O'Shea & T Charlton/K McEvoy) - $14
3rd: Manaal (M Freedman/J Collett) - $3.90

Winning Time: 1:22.94 Last 600m: 33.30

Margins: 1¼L x Nose

Beaten jockey comments:

Jason Collett (Manaal): "She took up the running. Relaxed in front but headed."

Chad Schofield (Ameena): "She is a very good filly. Just getting dictated to by bad barriers. She is having to be ridden a lot further back than she needs to be. She has a lot of class."

Dylan Gibbons (Erno's Cube): "She has gone fantastic. Gave herself every chance possible. Just doesn't see out a strong 1400m."

Cejay Graham (El Morzillo): "The pace of the race was really against us. She actually jumped better which I was happy with. From the wide alley I was forced to go back. She wanted to really overdo things early. I wasn't able to pick them up."

Tommy Berry (Lazzura): "She is a top filly this. Probably a little bit behind the others in maturing. She is still all legs and a bit light. Going to come back really nice next prep. Still could press onto the Flight Stakes but I think next prep is when we will see her at her best."

Zac Lloyd (More Territories): "Really nice type of filly. Gave me a great feel. Just having the two best fillies in the country in front and going a pretty sedate tempo made it hard for us backmarkers. I thought my filly acquitted herself well."

Adam Hyeronimus (Bella Khadijah): "We had no luck in a very strong race today. I think she will be better next time in."

Kerrin McEvoy (Snow In May): "She just missed the start a little bit which was frustrating. She got back going slow and like the way she finished it off. Onto the Flight for her and hoping the mile is to her liking as well."

7+ Sport Stakes

(3yo+ WFA - 1600m)

Race Result:

1st: Fangirl (C Waller/J McDonald) - $1.75F
2nd: My Oberon (A Neasham & R Archibald/C Schofield) - $31
3rd: Royal Patronage (G Waterhouse & A Bott/T Clark) - $4.40

Winning Time: 1:34.88 Last 600m: 33.73

Margins: ½L x ½L

Beaten jockey comments:

Chad Schofield (My Oberon): "Blinkers back on. He jumped out of the ground. He was terrific. We had a good run. Presented to win the race but obviously it took a champion to beat us. Very proud of him."

Jason Collett (Detonator Jack): "Great run. WFA conditions back to handicap will be perfect."

Tim Clark (Royal Patronage): "He has gone outstanding. He just knuckled over and came out really sticky. It meant he raced further back than we would have liked. I thought he was fantastic all the way up the straight."

Kerrin McEvoy (Navajo Peak): "He ran a good race first up. He goes out in trip and that will suit him better."

Rachel King (Major Beel): "Massive run. He is going super this preparation."

Tommy Berry (Zougotcha): "Obviously too bad to be true for her. We will see how she pulls up."

Nash Rawiller (Hinged): "She took up a really good spot. I think the run the other day took a bit out of her and she was probably looking for further today. Hopefully she gets that opportunity next time getting back to Rosehill 1900m."

Group 2 - Yarraman Park Shorts

(3yo+ SW&P - 1100m)

Race Result:

1st: I Am Me (C Maher/J McDonald) - $2.60F
2nd: Stefi Magnetica (B Baker/Z Lloyd) - $9
3rd: Mazu (J Pride/J Collett) - $13

Winning Time: 1:02.40 Last 600m: 33.43

Margins: Long Neck x ½L

Besten jockey comments:

Jay Ford (Private Eye): "He is going well. He ran on really well again. He just couldn't travel in the middle parts and was always under a ride and losing ground from the 8[00] to the 4[00] and closed off well but the task became too great."

Kerrin McEvoy (Aft Cabin): "He travelled well. Just didn't round the race off as well as I would have liked."

Zac Lloyd (Stefi Magnetica): "Geesh…She proved a couple of doubters wrong there. She has gone half a stride from winning from the back. 1100m which wasn't suitable for her. She was at her top for the majority of the first two furlongs. She has rattled home like that so six furlongs will be right up her alley."

Jason Collett (Mazu): "Great run. Obviously more effective on softer ground first up in this company was very good."

Tim Clark (Lady Of Camelot): "I thought under the circumstances her run still had good merit to it. She has just lost a little bit of that early speed. I think she is still going OK."

Regan Bayliss (Coal Crusher): "He will get better as he gets over a bit further."

Reece Jones (Dragonstone): "Tremendous. He has absolutely run out of his skin. With a little bit more even luck he might have found himself in the finish."

Dylan Gibbons (Our Kobison): "He has run as good as he can. They were a little bit too classy for him today."

Rachel King (Way To The Stars): "He tried really hard. Just the Randwick 1100m probably sees him out."

Tommy Berry (Mumbai Muse): "Another really good run from her on the back up. Something like the Sydney Stakes would be a lovely race for her. She is in good order."
