Top jockey charged for her ride on Let'sfacethemusic in McNeil Stakes
Jamie Kah has to answer the serious allegation of not giving one of her mounts every possible chance to obtain the best possible finishing position after being charged by Racing Victoria stewards on Monday.
The charge, under AR 129(2) was issued in relation to her ride on Let'Sfacethemusic in the McNeil Stakes at Caulfield on August 31.
The Mick Price and Michael Kent Jnr-trained three-year-old finished fifth, beaten 4-1/2 lengths.
The stewards charge read:
A) Between approximately the 175m and approximately the 100m, Ms Kah failed to ride her mount with sufficient vigour or purpose to improve her position between Band of Brothers and Stay Focused where there was sufficient room and when it was reasonable and permissible to do so; and/or
B) Over approximately the final 75m, Ms Kah failed to ride her mount with sufficient vigour when it was reasonable and permissible to do so.
Kah was twice interviewed by RV stewards before being charged and cited windy conditions and the horse's inexperience among factors in her reluctance to take the gap stewards considered available.
The charge against Kah will be heard by the Victorian Racing Tribunal at a date to be fixed.
