Buick to take the ride on Ortensia

Star English jockey William Buick will ride Australian sprinter Ortensia in Saturday's July Cup at Newmarket in the UK.

Trainer Paul Messara booked the 23-year-old after Craig Williams was forced to stay in Japan because of his on-going riding commitments.

Buick has ridden four Group One winners in the last month, including last Saturday's Eclipse Stakes at Sandown.

Connections have been delighted with Ortensia's work in the lead-up to Saturday's race, believing the horse will be significantly better after a disappointing performance at Ascot.

2011 Golden Slipper winner Sepoy is also expected to run in the July Cup for the Godolphin stable.
