Stradbroke on the cards for Mental says trainer

The Peter Snowden-trained Mental will head towards the Stradbroke Handicap if he can impress his trainer in tomorrow’s Group Three Fred Best Classic.

Snowden told RSN this morning he has high hopes for the winner of four of his seven starts.

“He’s always been a nice horse, he’s shown us a nice ability,” Snowden said.

While Snowden is confident in Mental’s ability, particularly after such an impressive win at his last start at Hawkesbury, Snowden is well aware this will be his biggest test yet.

“This is a much stronger race than what he met last start, but he won very dominantly,” Snowden said.

Snowden was reluctant to look past the Fred Best Classic with Mental, but he did concede starting him in he Stradbroke is definitely a strong chance, but he must run very well at Doomben tomorrow.

“He is in the Stradbroke, but he’s got to win and win well and keep winning to warrant a run at that,” Snowden told Racing Ahead.
