Arcee Phoenix has already settled into his New Zealand abode ahead of Tuesday’s $400,000 Dominion Trot at Addington.
The Chris Svanosio-prepared gelding made his way across the ditch on Wednesday alongside an emerging star of the track.
"He (Arcee Phoenix) left on Wednesday night with Keayang Zahara and they arrived on Thursday morning," Svanosio said.
"Paddy and Jason Lee are going to look after Arcee Phoenix for me until I get over there on Sunday."
The son of Justa Phoenix made a trip to New Zealand earlier this year for the $600,000 TAB Mobile Trot.
"He has travelled good and had a jog there today and he seems to have travelled up there terrific," he said.
"He had been over there once before and had a plane trip over to New Zealand and back before earlier in the year.
"He seemed to handle it good that time and everything seems good this time."
The five-year-old made his debut under standing start condition in the Kilmore Trotters Cup in preparation for Tuesday's two-mile event.
"I think it will be a challenge for all the horses having 15 (starters) going away with a big crowd," he said.
"He handled it really good at Kilmore and has had a fair few trials from it and a bit of practice here at home.
"Hopefully he can handle it well on Tuesday."
Arcee Phoenix has drawn six and will join fellow Victorians, the Jess Tubbs pairing of Just Believe (two) and One Over All (four) as well as the Brent Lilley-prepared Kyvalley Hotspur (eight) on the front row.
"I was hoping for a front-row draw," Svanosio said. "I watched a number of there standing start races the other day at Kaikōura and a few horses got interfered with.
"I just want to get away safely."
The Romsey trainer-driver is set to have another run in New Zealand before heading back.
"He will possibly if everything goes well on Tuesday, he will back up again on Friday in the trotters free-for-all from the mobile," he said.
"At this stage that will be his two runs and then he will come home after that."
