Trainer Justin Prentice says he couldn’t be happier with his TABtouch-WA Pacing Cup (2536m) runners Mighty Ronaldo and Tricky Miki, ahead of the feature event at Gloucester Park tomorrow night.

Mighty Ronaldo secured his spot in the Pacing Cup field with a credible third placing behind Mister Smartee in the JP Stratton Cup (2130m) last month.

The six-year-old gets the opportunity tomorrow night to add the Pacing Cup to his win in the 2023 Retravision-Fremantle Cup.

Prentice said he felt Mighty Ronaldo was better placed heading into tomorrow night's event than he was prior to the Fremantle Cup.

"I'm probably happier with him this prep than I was going into that Fremantle Cup," Prentice told TABradio.

"We raced him three weeks in a row leading into that Fremantle Cup because I wasn't extremely happy with where he was at.

"His run this year in the Fremantle Cup was great in a really hard run 2900.

"Hopefully they run it as hard as possible and hopefully we get the right breaks when we need them, and I think he will run a really good race."

Mighty Ronaldo has drawn barrier three for the $450,000 event, with key chances Pinny Tiger and Minstrel drawn inside him.

Prentice said he would take a conservative path with Mighty Ronaldo in the early stages.

"I won't do anything early and will drop him in," he said.

"Depending on what Swingband does, we have the option of following Captain Ravishing, or we could be three fence or four fence at worst.

"Either of those spots would be good."

Tricky Miki finished ninth in the JP Stratton Cup, following a win at Free-For-All level a week earlier.

Last year's Golden Nugget winner looks set to have a tough task in front of him from barrier seven tomorrow night.

Prentice said Tricky Miki, to be driven by Jack Callaghan, would likely need a lot of luck to win.

"He's probably a better horse on the rail," he said.

"The draw hurts his chances a lot, but he's probably going to end up in the back half of the field and I'll leave it up to Jack what he wants to do off the gate.

"He's got good gate speed, but with Pinny Tiger drawn one I don't think it's useful using it."

Pinny Tiger and Captain Ravishing share favouritism for the event at $4 with TABtouch, while Minstrel and Mister Smartee are also at the pointy end of the market at $4.20.
