The 24-year-old reinsman is fresh off the most successful period of his career, with a staggering 16 winners in the eight-day period between July 28 and August 4.

His four winners last Sunday week at Cranbourne were followed by three at Shepparton on Tuesday, one at each of Maryborough and Bendigo on Wednesday, another at Kilmore on Thursday, one at Melton on Friday, three at the same venue on Saturday and two at Cranbourne on Sunday just gone.

Making the haul more impressive is the fact there was no Victorian meeting on Monday last week.

"I guess anything is possible in racing, but this is incredible," James Herbertson said.

"It just felt like another week until I stopped and thought about the numbers. I just had more of the right horses than usual."

Herbertson drove a career-high 252 winners to claim the Victorian drivers' premiership last season and has eyes firmly set on surpassing the 250 barrier again in 2024.

The four-time Group 1-winning reinsman has piloted 1245 victors in a career that started in 2016.
