Vincent Bale has claimed his first group race victory tonight at Sandown Park, in the Group 2 Cranbourne Cup.
The winner of 14 races from 31 starts, finished second behind Morton in the heats last week but was able to pick Morton and Kinglsey Bale off with ease.
Trained by Team Grenfell, Vincent Bale didn't make things easy on himself working the outside of the track to pick up the victory in a time of 29.43.
"Into the first corner we knew there was going to be a lot of speed and something had to give, and I think he may have been the one who copped it," trainer Corey Grenfell said.
"He was thrown wide but was thrown into the race as well and from that moment he showed his strength."
Following Vincent Bale's Cranbourne Cup victory, Grenfell believes he has to be in contention for the invitational Sportsbet Topgun.
"He is one of those dogs on the rise… over the next three months, he is going to be dangerous."
The Sportsbet Dream Chasers Festival is only weeks away. All the action kicks off at The Meadows with three Group 1 races.
Pass Mark for Jeff Britton caused a major upset, running down Canya All Class to take out a Victoria Cup for the ages.
Mepunga Surprise was a monster run for third, making up ground with visible ease.
