Last week amongst the Cranbourne Cup card, greyhound racing fans witnessed something pretty spectacular – the Wentworth Park 520 track record broken by maiden Dalwhinnie.

Dalwhinnie lowered Shakey Jakey's track record to 29.03 in one of the best race performances we have seen.

Trainer William Butler spoke to Jason Adams and Lewis Willoughby on Sky Racing's The Morning on Monday.

"He has been trialing around Wentworth Park for quite a while and demonstrated he was going to run those times," William Butler said.

"I told anyone who would listen that he would be running those sort of times."

In great news for greyhound racing, at this stage it isn't looking like Dalwhinnie will follow suit with an early retirement like former Wentworth Park track record holder Shakey Jakey.

Rather, Butler will take aim at age restricted races like the Young Guns at Albion Park and the Silver Chief at The Meadows on December 14.
